Had the exact same problem with my Kawi 750 2years ago. Leaky needle/seat let fuel just flow into the motor as soon as gas sloshed around and pressurized. Filled the cylinders completely.

Get over to Florios for a pop off test.....or just order the gauge or whatever...its prolly cheap.

While walking back from the "race", This poor guy had a similar issue with unburned fuel/no spark, then a backfire in the waterbox....It blew black spooge like 10' away, and all over everything! I felt sorry, cause there's never enough paper towels and WD-40 to clean that mess up. Here's a pic of the some other guys nice WHITE truck that was parked next to him. Oh yea...not to mention the wind was blowing sand around sticking to this goo....Sorry dude. I think this topped last years "smoke screen" adventure. (and yes, this same thing happened to me in my garage....)

you're much better off making one that buying one. The Makuni pop off tester is a piece of crap and expensive.

I made one from a small hand pump (I think it came with a football), a brass tee, a pressure gauge (~60-80 psi for those high pop off couches) and some fuel line.

my pop-off tester is pretty much my leak down tester also, just add some rubber block off plates.

I have a mukuni and I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy's to use. You could build one easily or buy one from Watcon. I bought one of his hoping it would be better than the mukuni...well lets just say it is top notch and well worth the money.

oh man!!

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
Everytime I come back from FL I usually tear apart my ski to clean everything and the black sludge is always in the waterbox/wet pipe when I pour the excess water out. Never had it back up but I'm sure its more than possible that it happened on the way home. Salt water sure can scrup the carbon out of your exhaust!

maybe it's just the huge waterboxes in the sxrs that cause this...they hold a ton of water....maybe I'll switch to an X Metal...

Going to re-attach my Fuel shutoff switch (and rip the carbs apart again). It runs great at home, but after a drive down to the lake it was a bitch to start...dumped some gas and sludge out of the exhaust after I got down to the lake.
