Salt is not as evil as everyone seems to think. Well....O.K. it is. But a little prep b4 riding (whatever you spray your motor down with) and some attention after riding (freshwater rinse & spray down again) Has seemed to work for those of us that ride salt 100% of the time.

I agree its just that for salt water riding you have to do different maintainence than fresh and most freshwater riders aren't aware of what works. If you are going to do the quick disconnect mod, I do recommend stepping up and paying JSS's fee. I ride 100% salt and have never had any problems with my JSS connections. When ever you have them apart pack them with dielectric grease and you won't have any problems.

Weatherpack connectors packed with dielectric grease is about as waterproof as you can get,McMaster Carr has all pieces you need for those connectors as well.

I use the translucent green MSD style waterproof boots that are directionally molded to fit the factory crimp-on terminals.

You have to use a special ratcheting compound leverage tool that crimps the wire and insulation separate.

Also the weather pack connectors work well outside the e-box and you need crimp tool for these too.

Look for a trailer plug that has a weather proof seal and wrap the joint with vinyl tape. I unwrapped mine after three years and it the connections were completely dry.

Use the msd style weather packs, you can find them at local electrical stores, I have at least.

Do not use a trailer plug, that is hillbilly as hell.

SXR's are also detachable inside the Electrical box, but you only have to remove a small "cap" with two 10mm bolts to reveal them and unplug them instead of the entire box like a yamaha. It is pretty convenient.

I have used these - they come in 2,3,4 & 6 pin

I used the same thing on my TL with zero problems, fresh water though.
