I wonder if anyone thought about gliding all the way to the ground with one of those suits on. I bet it could be done. I would aim at some water though.

Maybe they've done it now, but when I was looking into it, they couldn't get the airspeed low enough to land on flat ground. I think some of them were trying to land on skis along a snow covered mountain side...

Just know for cold weather the batteries die SO fast. It was 39F were I was dirt biking, and even with brand new Energ lithiums cam was dead in no time.

It has a battery warmer...... I think they thought of everything. Wonder how much battery power it uses to keep the battery warm:thinking:

a few of the pioneers of the wingsuit world are gone. skydiving is fairly dangerous. skydiving in a straight-jacket is more dangerous. BASE jumping in a straight-jacket is very dangerous. :)

these guys are doing the sickest thing I think you can do on the planet.when they buzz by the overhangs and walls by just a couple feet at over 100 mph it just SICK.Ive been watching these guys vids for a while,it makes me wonder what they will be trying next.

if you dont find yourself saying WOW out loud at the end of this vid,I dont know what will do it for you
The go pro hd cam is killer, wish it had more lens options though for what we do

Has anyone gotten one of these yet? I have one coming for Christmas and can't wait. I was just reading the manual online and think I just found my birthday present as well; an lcd bakpac.

CONNECTING EXPANSION BAKPAC™ MODULES TO HERO BUS
The rear port on the camera is called the HERO BUS expansion port. Expansion “Bakpac” modules are
available beginning early 2010, as accessories: a Battery Bakpac doubles recording times and an LCD
Bakpac allows for preview and review of footage on the camera. Bakpac Expansion modules come with
additional housing back doors that allow the Bakpac to fit inside the housing, maintaining waterproof
performance.

My friend did and I tried it this past weekend. The resolution is really good, awesome to say the least. But personally I still do not like the fish eye for filming your surroundings. Be careful, make sure this is what you want or you will be disapointed when filming others. It is an expensive camera.

Wngsuits are a total rush, we use to jump on the beach over the pier & fly south in a flock for at least 2 miles. One of my buddies would use a base rig & always pulled super low over the beach. I wish we had go pro's back then, beach jumping was so fun.

Not sure if you have figured this out yet or not, but the HD version can film with either a 170` feild of view (fisheye) or 127' depending on how you set the resolution. 127 is still a pretty wide angle, but not nearly as wide as 170. Also worth noting is that some of the resolution settings record at 60fps!

Yeah I read this also, but what I'm curious about is what the Non wide footage actually looks like. For shooting others the old wides are almost useless. I would be really interested in seeing someone post up a clip of both settings wide and regular to see how they actually look.

He walked into my cube at work and basically handed it to me for the weekend. No instructions just the camera and I did not think much of it in terms of functionality....BIG mistake.
I will ask for it again and play around with it next time.....
Thanks for posting that.

That is good to know info! Anybody have clips yet?

the thing is it still runs the same 170 wide lens,it is a static lens,no zoom.Im not sure but I would guess that the 1080p setting of 127 is just cropping the sides off for aspect ratio, your subject would still seem farther away than they are the same as the 170 deg view point,it would be worth a call to go pro to find out. I found the 170 deg lens to be useless for shooting others as well

this turns out to be the case

The 127º mode crops off the edges (where the majority of the distortion occurs) resulting in much clearer distance shots; especially with the added video quality of the 1080p HD. Unfortunately, we have no plans to release a standard lens HD HERO.

We are planning on releasing a remote for the HD HERO sometime in the near future, though we can not guarantee if/when it will be produced.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Many thanks,

You can find owners manuals for almost anything online:

Trying to figure out the morse code and blinky lights on modern toys is a joke without the secret decoder PDF.

I don't see why this is an issue. 127º is 127º regardless of if your lens changes or the cropping on the sensor changes (given resolution isn't compromised). The bottom line is with either setting this is not something you should use to film others with at distance. I've got a SD camcorder with something like a 40x zoom and image stabilization to use for that and it works great (sample). I am planning on using both at the same time for multiple angles on the same shot. When edited together correctly I think the final product should be pretty interesting...

it comes into play big time for hel cam use with jetskis, We shoot vids almost every time we go out, if its on your helmet its second person action shots 90% of the time, and at 15 to 20 ft distance shooting your buds riding its worthless. if its mounted on the ski and used for 1st person action its cool, but that gets old quick in vids.

we have a hd go pro in our group already, add these to the problem lists with it....

"Ok so before you run out and shell out 220+ on the hd gopro take some things into consideration...

Do you have a computer and editing software to handle HD video???

This camera is a lot more difficult to use and has a bunch more settings than the standard gopro.

I've been playing around with the settings on this puppy for the last two days. Theres a lot to mess with.

Also, you will need a converter to convert .MP4 into AVI or something similar. Most programs won't recognize the file formatt .mp4 from the gopro so the conversion is essential.

All in all this thing is a pain in the ass so far. Hopefully once i learn all the settings it will be much simpler to use.mp4 straight from the camera. I have Adobe Premiere and it doesnt recognize the gopro mp4 formatt.. so i have to convert it.

I was trying to do the full 1080p 30fps and my laptop couldnt handle it haha.

I'm also having issues with the camera. Sometimes it crashes and takes 10 minutes to start it up again.. I sold 3 of these babies on ebay, hope my customers don't have the same problems."

Excellent point!
Seriously, do NOT buy this camera if you do not have the Hardware to process the video.....
