Lake Michigan Surf Shots

I've been meaning to post these for a while now. This is near Michigan City, Indiana. We're not the best riders but we have a lot of fun doing it. Enjoy.

This is surf from late August. I'm on the black RN and Justin aka Fals3illusion is on the turfed square trying his first flips. I feel like these pictures don't give the surf justice...it was some big stuff.

The guy in the scuba steve wetsuit is our buddy Tim, who just bought a square. I was scared for him and my ski...this was his first time in big waves.

Sunset over Chicago from the Indiana side of the lake.

This is actually on the Illinois River in Morris, Illinois. I thought it was just a cool shot because of the barge traffic in the background.

Justin, looks like you need to straighten out your arms and get back farther leaving the wave. Whip that head back too.

Ya NW winds kick ass near Michigan City (which is where we ride out of). A few weeks ago I was looking at the wave reports and they were predicting 15-20 footers. I have never seen anything that big in the reports before, or in real life for that matter. I could not even imagine riding in that.

It would be awesome if you Clevelanders took a trip out here. There are not many standups where we ride, so it would be a change for the better. The downside is that Michigan City isn't some nice little lakefront village. It's actually a pretty rough town away from the lake.

I love the sunset pic too...just fyi the sears aka "willis" tower is the second building on the left...it's the tallest one.

I'm lovin the support for northwest indiana...I think a Chicago ride would be amazing but there is no practical (or cheap) place to launch, relax, and stay.

There are plenty of places to ride near chicago, but for surf you need strongs winds out of the Northeast, which generally isn't the case. You usually have winds out of the West, so the surf is generally on the East side of the lake.
