im pretty sure if borris is getting the codec mesg its because he hasnt updated Win med player to the newest ver, since you have updated to new ver it should play, when i go to play it after downloading it from the same site i uploaded it to,it pops a mesg that win med player doesnt reconize the formate but has a tab to play it anyway, click that tab and it plays,so the problem for most people is probally needing to update to the newest win med player. Geez where is superjett, thought he would of had this uploaded long time ago.

well thanks anyway. It tells me it doesn't rec the ext (wmv) and then I do what you say "Play Anyway" and I that is when I get the codec error message(and I'm running ver 10...think Boris said he was also, but not sure). When I research codec messages on web, one of the many troubleshooting probs is that I may have had security set to high (but nobody seems to be able to answer that question).

it boggles me how some computers play it fine and others wont, especially with win med palyer. I dont know why the codec is some wierd one, either one of you guys jerry or jett try loading it in studio 9 and changing the formate to something else.
jerry, same thing kept happening to me with my laptop and your quicktime vids,it was updated with the newest ver but it wouldnt play them for nothing,my desktop played them no prob when i got home,I remeber a bunch peps having trouble getting thme to play, thats the prob with full res vids I guess, best thing to do is upload to utube, most peps dont care if they can download or not.to bad the res on those looks so crappy.

Man, I've already spent like 2 hours this week trying to re-render YOUR video because it's 325Mb and most people can't play it, and you're dissing me?

325Mb for 5 minutes of footage in a video format that most people can't even play is insane, and I cannot host something that huge because it would hammer me - only 3 downloads would be a Gb and I get hundreds of people on my site each day downloading. I average around 10Gb/day now, and that's with an average filesize of like 40Mb.

I have no problem hosting videos, but when I run into problems (and everyone else too) because you used a funky encoder or something, then you need to look at it and fix it. I've tried several methods, and a couple other people have too, with no success.

Just so everyone knows, slymo did a dvd-quality 32 minute video of Havasu one year that ended up 334Mb. This video should be no bigger than 70Mb in dvd-quality.

He didn't send this one, cause there is no way I could host a 300Meg file.

Tried to DL twice... To large, gave up. Did see the first 58 sec'd Jerry hosted.

Here is a SAMPLE 12 Meg, file that is 5 Minute same quality. http://www.wavejunkies.com/images/AlienNationHigh.wmv

MB Render it smaller so somebody can host it.

I have a new workstation w/DVD player/CDRW burner drive at work (Win XP) & it played immediately.:Banane01:

At home I have just an old CDRW burner (no DVD) on a Windows 2000 PC (Media Player 9) & it wouldn't play eother. I found out that to play it you need to download & install an MPEG_2 decoder - I found one last night for free but can't remeber where - you'll have to google it. It played w/sound, but not as nice a picture quality as at work.:frown:

Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee played dvd quality for 20 minutes and that was only 280Meg... :sneaky:

This poop's better than cable.

Fwiw, it appears to be .avi. The video codec is Moonlight-Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder and audio is Moonlight Odio Dekoda. These Florida boys rock but you may want to wait if you pay for bandwidth or risk execution at work for clogging the pipes... it ain't worth it.

i play it as a .wmv...

if it's encoded with an MPEG2 encoder, wouldnt it be an MPG file?

i guess the media players are smart enough to figure out which codec to use as long as you have the proper codec in your computer. it also plays fine on my ubuntu/totem laptop.

Don't get all technical on me :Banane37:

Oh my goodness,I guess all you comp geeks have one thing in common DRAMA QUEENS. Derm and BJ are also both comp ip geeks.Does anyone here think I DISSED jett with the word "geez" thought he would have had it up?Im sorry you took it the wrong way. Dang bud you act like I cussed you out or something.
And Dermy of corse looking for the first negitive thing to come along JUMP on the bandwagon QUICK I knew you would be the next post after that without even looking,Your my fav thread lurker You have to be one of the most negative peps I have ever met.where are all your other posts in these 2 threads with anything worthwhile to say. I dont wana host the vid the same way the rest are at wavejunkies, they look like pixels,Im sure there was a better way to convert this vid,but studio 9 made it that big for dvd formate, you can bet I will figure a better way to export it without being 240x340 like the rest.

It's the point that I've wasted like 2 hours this week trying to do something FOR YOU, and you haven't even bothered trying to learn your software better when that's obviously the issue, then you say I'm the slow one for not posting that freaking huge file you sent.

I'm done, the 200mb version that guiness was nice enough to render is uploading. I'll leave that up for a couple of days then replace it with a smaller one.

Here's a guideline: slymo's 733mb .wmv for Havasu was 32:46 long at 640x480. That's around 22.5Mb/minute. Your video is 5:32, so it should be around 125Mb. It was triple that. Also, I did not host that 733mb file publicly, just for people that contacted me wanting the high quality version because I would have been hammered.
