Its cool but XP64 tweaked on a 64bit CPU with a 10k hard drive smokes it.

I am not a big fan of R.A.I.D. at all....as it is failable so then what is the point as thats is its only function....to be a redundant array of independent disks.

I just cant justify for it my clients or my set ups.

give it a few months.... vista was a cluster :):):):).... the oem and retail release was last week.... i have been running Win7 ultimate on an old P4 machine and it runs fun and boots faster.... not a complete memory hog like vista was

U must be talking about a different raid then what I'm thinking. Raid 3,4, & 5 are only fallible if you lose more then 1 disk at once. That's not likely to happen.
Raid 6 can handle loosing 2 discs and still recover data.

Yea I just mean home desktop guys looking to always have a mirrored drive....so 2 drives total.

And I didn't meant the physical drives failing. I meant both drives being attacked and infected.

I have spent a lot of years teaching my customers how to manage their data so i don't want them relying on RAID or Maxtor one touch or any thing other than manual important file management.

I do the same. That way I am in charge of my ever changing important data and where it is.

I have set up RAID for a gamer and the single 10k WD hard drive was just as fast, cheaper, and more simple.

I know some of you corporate guys need it for sure though.

What about rocking some ssd's in a raid. I had 3 hard drives running in a raid 0 but had problems with it so I changed back to one drive....fast but unreliable kind of like a modded ski.

I have watched some you boob videos of Intel's ssd and its quick. I don't think think you would need a raid but it would be fun to play around with. I'm waiting for prices to come down though.
