heres the etec engine in all its glory:

the MPEM on it is also liquid cooled. the fuel runs through it on its way to the injectors to cool it

#55 is the MPEM. you can see the two nipples where the fuel flows through

My knowledge of direct injection is limited to the Seadoo DI models, you are correct I have no knowledge of the ETEC engines.

Ficht and Orbital DI is a band-aid, junk with automotive injectors. You are correct, dangerous, expensive, overly complicated. Only good for so many rpm

Etec is amazing.
We had a 600 DI, with about 6psi of boost, 7500 rpm 700 throttle counts hit just over 170 hp. Similar emissions to a TBI two stroke(speed density).

Ignore the throttle counts comment, that dyno run was at only 3/4 throttle!

But thats because I couldnt get it to run at full throttle, spark kept blowing out.

I have a drive coupler machined to fit a skidoo crankshaft. It might be fun to have an E-tec powered ski. A custom dry pipe, and a bedplate would make it a reality. And it's just a matter of time before a 800cc E-tec is available.

The 800 is done, the market isnt ready for it. I rode it in 05, was fairly close then.
Look for SD to do something revolutionary on it, like completely stratified charge.

Of course, let the 600 ramp up the hype and then they can release it.
And then in typical BRP fashion, they can spend two years trying to get reliable and running.
