Other MIT proves two stroke is better and cleaner than a 4 stroke

lol that would be our luck, they have got to see a recreation rider market to use the technolgy on. if they did it right and mad a hull that handled somewhat close to what us freestyle guys ride.....they could change the whole industry.

I think MANY people on this forum would agree. I know I do, and if SD made a standup with the power of a 951 and handling to boot, many would buy one.

i would buy one, even if they made it as plain riding as a stock superjet hull, most of us would still modify the hull to handle the way we like it. under the hood is the part that we really need some updates. right now 1L of amsoil is 15.99 here, it is good synthetic oil but that would only last me like 50L of gas and i burn about 20L each time i ride. dual 48's really suck the fuel. I would love to make the operating cost become 1/4 of the price it is now. 120hp motor i think would be good for alot of people too, especially when seadoo does financing. anyone with credit could get out on the water and ride an advanced standup. ahhhh i know i am dreaming.

at the same time you have to appreciate the simplicity of the 2-strokes we ride considering the conditions our ski's are used in...sink the ski you are dreaming about, and it's no longer a drain the water out and start it back up good as new affair...

Cool project... Anybody read the paper?

You can tell it was done like most college projects: Each group member writes a portion of the report. About the middle of the paper, a non-native English speaker takes over the report... grammar and spelling go to sh*t, along with the readability of the paper. It hurt my brain to continue on from that point. Don't throw too much respect at MIT if these kids can't even have someone review their about to be published technical report.....

Agreed, this was pretty brutal:

"To install this system on a 2 strokes engine is not simple
because the totality of the circuit must be review and
keep the original performance is difficult .To have more
information to install this system we found a schematic
that explains in details all of the components that must
be modified to accommodate it. See figure XX in
appendix. Thus, the major component to modify is the
engine’s head. The initial position of the spark plugs on
our engine is at center of the cylinder (Sees pictures xx).
With the Synerject system, the injectors and the spark
plug make an angle of 30° with a vertical axe. This new
configuration causes a lot of problem to keep the
functionality of the engine. To eliminate this problem we
decided to design a new engine’s head. With design we
are sure that the position of the components is right and
that the sealing is preserved. Here is the new engine’s
head:"

Makes my head hurt too. :p

I don't think most of you fully understand the DI technology and what it takes to run it.First off its not just two injectors sitting on top of the head. There is also an onboard air compressor that is driven off the crankshaft, the fuel is injected along with air pressure to help complete the burn.It takes a monster sized MPEM to read all the inputs from the various sensors and control the timing and pulse width of the injectors, not to mention the oil lines running all over that engine to various lubrication points. The technology is neither simplistic nor readily adaptable to a basic two stroke engine as we know it.Now I am sure someone could cobble together some sort of system that would half ass work,of that I have no doubt, keep in mind that all of the fuel lines are now highly pressurized and if something happens you have created a nice jet driven short range missle.

so one could probably do it on an octane with the 777cc components from the genisis? i think they had a sit down witht the same size motor but with some sort of fuel injection, not the e-tec technology. something with injectors in the head. i agree with you speedracer, it is not simple and i don't think our motor builder have that kinda r@d resources. seadoo is the best bet but it probably won't ever happen.

lol i don't know for sure i was trickin. i think they are warrantied for 3 years. have you done any maint, on your sled? also where are the pics of the e-tec we all been babblin about. show us yer motor!

i would even be happy with an efi throttle body for yamaha cases with ability to tune. no more jets ever, just plug in and fatten or clean up the powerband.

I have heard of several people using the Microsquirt system for cars and adapting it to watercraft, one was on a Seadoo 787 engine.

I dont think anyone on has any knowledge on the ETEC. Its so simple it hurts. Everything is contained in the injector, you only have to supply 25 psi to the injectors.
MONSTER Sized MPEM?
Ha its Evinrude, the side of BRP that has real engineers. My original prototype box was smaller than a Yamaha electrical box, let alone a Rotax.
Sensors are basic, two ignition pickups, tps, temp, what else do you need? Enlighten me?

I dont want to come off wrong. I just want the facts straight for the general public.
