FX-1 What in the world is this hole here for?

I pulled of my pipe today getting ready for my new one and this is what I found... the foam is wet and it just seems really odd. Why would there be a hole here and it was covered by a piece of white tape that was halfway lifted off.

AH, so do I need to patch this hole up or what. I wouldn't think haveing soaking wet foam would be a good thing... What should I do?

Well I press my finger on the foam and it acts likea sponge and water drips off my finger. Its SOAKED... can I dry it or is it a winter refoam project?

doubtfull that you would get the foam to dry out 100%. 75% maybe. If the ski doesnt feel overly heavy, I'd just seal it up.

That is unless you fell like cutting your tray out, digging out all the old foam, reglassing a new tray, and then refoaming...

Well to be honest, after riding for an hr or so it takes a lot of effort to get a good bunny hop and feels heavy this must be why! Im going to let it dry out for a week while waiting for the pipe but what is the best way to seal it up? This winter I'm going for the extreme fx1 make over and will refoam then.

Remember, no matter how much time and money you put into it; its still an FX1.

take your rear ride plate screw out, poke the hole all the way thru, stand the ski up...and drain it....then seal the hole fore now and consider refoam in winter....

I just emptied a half a bucket out of mine and it sure makes a difference

Well intentioned advice, but not correct....the FX has different ride plate mounting than Superjet. You could accomplish the same thing on an FX by simply drilling a hole at the rear of each main chine but unless you fix how the water got in there in the first place, it's a very temporary fix.

If you drill the Chines instead where the rideplate mounts, what are you using to patch up the holes? The Chines are located at the FAR rear end of the ski right?

What is the best way of patching the hole? Epoxy in a piece of plastic? Or...

Just to update this, I glued in a clear plastic welding lense to seal it up. It seems to be holding really well so far. However, after riding for a few hours, the ski felt real heavy again. Im assuming water is still getting in somewhere, I wont know for sure untill I tear into it this winter.
