Lightweight battery options

I can see how near 50 pounds of water in the tray would make a huge diff, but other than the hull riding a tiny bit lower in the water with a full tank of gas with no rider,I can hardly tell the diff when its almost empty as far as the way it handles.flatwater backies could be diff with 30 less in the nose,if you have the motor and skill to do that kinda thing

I can tell a WORLD of difference in my skis with a full vs. empty tank...moreso with the REV..

i use the deka etx9 with my total loss. works fine for a couple tanks and lots of starts. I don't know about all this loosing body weight thing, when is the last time any of you guys lost 20lbs? hmmm? really. it is alot easier to shed weight on a ski then the body. i went from 192 lbs to 175lbs and it took alot of work and some evercleanse. buy the battery, and work out FTW. :)

lol yea it is easy to tell when your hull is swamped with water.....huh I thought I hit that wave harder than that? ah the bilge is off.........switch to on,continous piss for over a min.nice more like it!

I really just dont see how a few pounds will make a diff at all considering a full tank of fuel weighs 30lbs or more, and I cant feel a bit of diff in how the ski rides full or empty

As I said in the other thread, this about building a flatwater ski. Total weight savings will be 60-80 pounds...................That is significant, but you dont take out a 60 pound part (unless its your mouth:pokey:), you take out a 5 pounder here, a 2 pounder here, and so on. It all adds up in the end.

Sorry I don't mean to hijack this tread.

I mention the Body weight thing. Some people are overweight (yes, Me), and it's a fact that you will perform better on any sport if you are fit and have a good body weight to height proportions. By overweight I mean 20 to 40 pounds, I personally have 49 pounds that I need to get rid off....seriously and I am sick of it.

My 2 cents....

Performance is what you are after by shedding weight off your ski, and you can accomplish that easier than losing body weight that is for sure....but if you are really serious about it, if you really want to nail that Barrel roll or attempt that back flip like I want, then you might want to consider shedding some pounds yourself but ONLY if you need to. If you think you are overweight by 10 pounds....please don't bother and concentrate on your ski. I am talking more in the range of 20 to 40 pounds which is something you will feel in your pants.....LOL!

I am currently adding a B-pipe and head to my RN for an extra punch and I am committed to shedding some weight myself. I think the extra power and me being lighter will propel me to the next plateau......and lots of practice of course.

I want that Barrel roll.....I want that Back Flip.....and I want it Bad.

Peace out!

p.s: Congrats on losing the weight!

i agree with everything you say but i laugh at people when they say just jog a bit and loose 10lbs, lol if it was that easy we wouldn't have so many fat people in the world. getting the ski lighter is key to getting performance. i pretty much unweigh my self from the ski when jumping so my weight doesn't affect the ski that much, i did not notice any performance gain from working out and eating better. i feel better, but my ski rides the same. i noticed a big difference when i built my ski to be lighter than stock. a light ski will turn and pop back up on plane instantly compared to a heavy ski. you know when you turn 180 to hit the setup wake? that quick 180 is important so you can make it through your wake over to the tough. on heavier ski i cannot spin around and plane out near as cleanly as i can with a shortened lighter ski. If i get more serious about my ski then i will get a lighter hood, pole, waterbox to shed the last 10 lbs that others seem to be doing. i know my ski is night and day difference with a full tank compared to 2 minutes before i run out, i pretty much ride it with a 1/3 of a tank and rip it until someone tows me back in. lol.

i have also heard that trolling motor batteries are very long lasting but they were $$$ and the ones i seen where the sixe of a car battery.

that apex battery is like the one i have as a backup now that i got the deka. it works good and is lighter than my deka but doesn last as long. if you have two, then you can ride all day, just gotta swap them when it dies.

i don't know either but i know on my trolling motor it killed my car battery too fast and my fishing buddy tells me to go buy a special trolling battery and it lasts for hours. i wasn't going to spend 160.00 on a bettery for a free trolling motor, i got a 3hp 1940 something firestone outboard for the canoe for 50 bucks that runs instead.

A trolling battery is designed to discharge a steady supply of current over hours.
A regular automotive or marine battery is designed to discharge very large quantities of current over a short time (to start).
