Whats out there and how do they stack up to the deka etx 16l?

I hear alot about Jetworks but what do they weigh?

Any others?

Looking for something for a TL stroker that will at least run all day (3-5 stock tanks full) My oddessy is usually good for the weekend, but I am looking to save weight.................

Guys are having good luck with Deka batteries. Some use the ETX9 that is 6.3lbs . The one that would be specified for our applications is the ETX16 for 17lbs. I'll probably go with the ETX12 for a little more power and a little less weight than stock. Do a search on here for "ETX9" and you'll get more info.

Also, here's the tech info on the batteries.

The argument about body weight always comes up on here whenever talking about loosing weight on the ski. I know I can work with my own body weight, but a heavy a$$ ski is hard to deal with.

For a 450lb combined weight, would you rather weigh 125lbs and ride a 325lb ski, or weigh 200lbs and ride a 250lb ski?

A light weight battery is the best bang for the buck in weight loss.

That said, I'm loosing body weight too. Why not have both? I'm right there with you Benny. I want to loose 50lbs, but shooting for 15-20 by mid-September.

I really just dont see how a few pounds will make a diff at all considering a full tank of fuel weighs 30lbs or more, and I cant feel a bit of diff in how the ski rides full or empty

It's not a few pounds, it's a few pounds here and there. They all add up. The end result can be 30 or more lbs. In a 300lb ski, that's a reduction of 10%. Pretty big in my book. I wish I was 10% lighter.

And, that's why people run kart tanks. Takes your full amount from about 40lbs to about 18lbs. Less fuel, and less room to slosh.

So dont worry about what I am doing........you are busting my chops on two different threads over something that you have no interest in:261:

Like I said in the other thread, this is not for a surf boat, its for flatwater. Never seen anyone get so involved in something they could care less about............but :tool:

Go ride some surf and leave my alone.............:moon:

Very well said. Its the same in car racing...........its never 100 pounds here, 50 there, but 10 here, 5 there, 2 over there......................gotta build it with weight in mind and it adds up to alot more than you think if you do it right. Wiring, water line placement, and all sorts of things can be done to minimize weight.

When I build my new one we will see just how light it can be with a regular glass a/m hull or topdeck conversion.:Banane19:

I wasnt talking to you specifically,im asking how much diff will 30 lbs pounds really make with a ski, flatwater or surf no matter? what is possible that isnt with 30 more pounds on board?

30lbs makes a very big difference in handling.

Next time you're out, put 30lbs of weight in the bilge (weight plates, two extra batteries, whatever)
I guarantee, you'll notice it.

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking of. I started removing weight from my Alfa Romeo and it was pretty amazing how much I took out. I started by chipping all the sound deadening material off, huge PITA, then started cutting off every bracket I didn't need. I put all the bracket in a 5 gal bucket and ended up with over 50lbs of "stuff". Plus that sound deadening is ridiculously heavy. It's like a 1/4" of asphalt all over the car.

267 here with extinguisher, a little gas, and some water in the bilge. 250 might be pushing without a full aftermarket hull.

30 lbs is significant on a ski that only weighs 300. It spins faster, you can alter it's orientation easier, it floats higher in the water, etc.

Dude my superjet rode so different after defoaming that I had to relearn how to ride. Of course it was about 45 lbs of water+foam, but it rode completely different...
