FX-1 144 pump conversion

hi,

after a long searching about that here and have all the stuff for the kawi conversion, i'm thinking about another road.

the cons on the kawi conversion (for me) are :

  • no wear ring cheap and easy to change.
  • no fast prop change.
  • old stuff hard to find clean
  • no magnum available (or custom build and far from cheap)
  • need to swap bearing for the shaft.
pros :

  • cheap
  • stuff is easy to find
  • highly documented thanks to the X :arms:

that's why i first go with the kawi pump conversion.

but looking on the side of the 144 pump

the problem are :

  • stock pump shoe can be only bored to 130
  • the ride plate need to be ajusted or the pump housing grinded down a little
i was thinking about a swap of the oem pump shoe vs a xft alum pump shoe

need ajustment to fit the intake grate but seems not impossible.

then swap the nozzle for the protec one or stay stock

reinforce pump tunnel by the inside where you grind to fit the pump and pump shoe.

Tilt can be added with a x2 trim that seems to fit the protec nozzle weel.

and there you are :bananapowerslide:

  • Fast prop swap
  • removable wear ring (i ride in salt water)
  • upgradable to a magnum

What do you think about that ?

up to you if you find some things i've forget .

I just did the 140 pump swap and I must say, although time consuming, it was fairly easy. If I did it agian, I might do the kawi 750/800 pump, yamaha pump seems to be too much work.

If you do the 750/800 kawi conversion it will be the same work than for the superjet pump. The 800 kawi need a pump sho too .

no welding required--no biggie, I don't have time to build a tool to relocate the feet and I am not set up to weld aluminium.

im in the process of switching from a 650 pump to a 750 mag. i filled the stock pump shoe with epoxy so it could be opened up to 140mm.this way there are no mods to the pump or the intake grate. its def more work than the 650 pump but it gives lots of pump options.

honestly the 650 pump worked awsome.i wouldnt have changed a thing had i not stumbled into a deal on a mag pump
