Yamaha engine mount washer shape?

Why do yamaha's engine mount washers have the little indentation rather than being round? Its a dumb question... but I've been wondering this for some time.... only thing I could think of is a drain for the hole if you position it right....

Ive wondered that also. Maybe so air can get down to the threads of the bolt and dry up the water.

because they are cheap.
with the metal saved they can make a free washer!

Didn't yamaha used to have other holes in the bedplate for "jack bolts" that I think helped aid in alignment or something... maybe the washer has the indentation so you can screw the bolt in the other hole still with it in place....

Then they made so many that they have been using the same lot ever since... or maybe since they already had the drawing and part number setup they were too lazy to change it? plus I guess it would save a small amount of $ on materials I suppose...

just looked at washers.... they arent big enough that the cutout would have covered the jack bolt holes anyways.... so I my guess is for alignment tool like orange said or just a hole for drainage... its a mystery.

I use it to spray penetrant down to the threads where they go into engine mounts sometimes on skis that I am taking apart. Possible use?
