You know any good alternatives? My waterdawg hood doesn't seal that well with my poopy seal... Anyone ever tried hydro turf as a seal? Like sutting out a big oval??

I just got my hydroturf seal in today for my 550. It looks and feels great but not sure how it will perform. Ill probably install it tomorrow along with my under padding so i might can get a few pics for ya atleast

word around here is that the only other seal other than OEM worth anything is xft.... and it will cost you because of shipping from brazil... so just get OEM.... how does Greater Yamahas price compare to boats.net? boats.net price is like $90 + shipping if I remember right..

I am trying the hydroturf seal.
I am not too crazy about it.
The problem is with the front portion. The hood wants to push the seal forward while being put on.
This rolls or pushes the seal.
I mounted my seal sideways and rivited a strip of rubber across the front (from inside the engine compartment). This seems to work.
OEM is probably a better long term reliable solution.

The Hydro-turf hood seals suck. After a few months they loose their memory and start to dry out. You get what you pay for i guess.

The JSS ones are not much better than the hydro turf ones.
a good OEM hood seal should last longer than 3 seasons when treated well. Mine is from 1996 and still works very well.

Yeah, obviously it has lot to do with how much you ride, how good the hood sits/fits on the seal, and how well adjusted you hooks/receivers are set.
A lot of aftermarket hoods sometimes sit a little funny one way or another and will push or rub to hard on a OEM seal and after awhile cut it.
