Friggin electrical box :(

We have tried sealants, new seals, cleaning old seals, new screws and it never ceases that multiple people in the group have water in the box (though the 08 was a bad installion by the Factory monkeys from yamaha) I have wondered many times about a plug on the top and a plug on the bottom so that it could be rinsed after ocean trips and left open between lake riding or at least monthly to allow to dry out. Any thoughts? It also drives me nuts to have to open the friggin box to pull a motor, what connectors would work best to have an external quick disconnect. I know its soooo much fun taking all 30 screws out to open a box especially if its finally sealed good but what the hell right.

Chris, use some waterproof grease on that e-box seal, both sides and along the edges of the rubber grommets for the wires coming out.
This should end your leaking box.
Good Luck

New gasket, don't over-tighten the screws.
Put some grease on the fuse cap.

Never leaks.

Nice, will give it a try, since I seem to have this box open about once a month I will know in a month or so if it works. Everthing in there is new or has been replaced at least once but i figure something will die again soon with all the water.

yes, and yes...

new gaskets don't need grease. spend $9 on a new gasket and avoid corroding everything in a $150+ ebox.

Superjet-113 sells some nice ebox gaskets... little different than OEM, and I like them better.

I purchased like 5 at one time so I always have them available.

years ago, I found my ski dead one spring, opened E box, full of water, and MSD enhancer was toast.

I drilled holes in the bottom of the box, and its never been an issue again.

I put new gaskets in my E-Box and covered them in a light layer of grease. They have never ever leaked. I think the trick is not to overtighen the gasket.
