it cost alot for anodizing?
Yep the cases are painted, head anodized, billet cylinder and the bed plates & front cover are ceramic coated.
Powder coating doesn't last very long when exposed to a salt water because it will start to peel up at the machined surface exposed edges.
Also the candy colors are not very durable because it's a very thin coating over chrome powder coating.
If you want any paint job to last on an engine that's exposed to salt water it needs to have a zinc phosphate two part epoxy primmer for adhesion and corrosion resistance.
Think I found what I am going to do, its duplicolor "metalcast" looks like the same color. I got a good selfetching primer to go with it so we'll see how it will work.
get a base coat clear coat. Be sure to use a self etching primer that is for aluminum.
Thats what I did.

duplicolor clear work??
Yes but not as well as a true automotive clear.
Metalcast only works on shiny surfaces... It is basically a clear tint. If you apply it over a dull finish it'll be a dull tint. If you paint it over chrome it'll look anodized. As for durability, I sprayed a few hand tools with it and they looked good until you scraped them up against anything.
It does look cool though!
that looks good! is it better to paint it all separate?
duplicolor clear work??
