Back Flip on stock SJ?

Is it possible to do a backflip on a stock RN off the surf? I would like to try it but I am wondering if it is possible, and how many guys can do it? The only mods I have done to my ski so far are RRP pole, home made quick steer, bilge, limiting rope, and I have my foot straps that just came in and I think that I am going to put them both in back so I can lock my feet in for the back flip! Do I need the trim system to do a back flip and more power or is it possible? Last year I had my stock 750sx and I thought I would try it and I got about half way around and the ski landed directly on top of me( didn't hurt like I thought it would though)! Any comments suggestions or input would be great!

flipping surf style is harder. I don't like the term "locked in". you never want to be trapped in your ski. pancaking is part of getting inverted.

Do you reccomend the surf stance, And then when I do the flip only have one foot locked in?

you can flip with your foot forward...taylor curtis only ran one strap (rear) until a few years ago...so you can flip with only one foot straped in...id recommend putting them surf stance cause you will be riding around more than you will be back flipping id assume..

Should I have only one foot holding me into the ski? My original thought was two straps in back and then maybe an other strap up front or something else I can tuck my toes under to hold me in.

How big enough wave do I need to do one? Does anyone have any footage of someone doing backflips or surf whit a stock ski? Reason I am doing straps instead of foot holds is because its cheaper, easier and I don't know how to do glass work.

Man I would imagine you would have no problem having someone help you put in footholds in your area. A ton of riders up by you.

Pancake pete learned to backflip on a stock sxi pro :bigok:
I heard it's real easy to learn to backflip if your wearing fuel backflip socks:laugh2:

A little hp does not hurt, but you don't need it. I am running a totally stock motor and pump in my practice boat.

If I were you, I would run one of your straps forward, that is what I do. I think the easiest way to flip is with both feet in the back, because you will rotate the fastest, but I don't do that. And I am not really sure that having both straps in the back is going to be a very good setup. You can flip just fine with only foot in the strap or hold...but that will probably not be the most confidince inspiring for you in the beginning. If you are set on using straps, I would say use one in the back, one in the front.

Attached are a couple of pics of the stock boat...
