My day at the beach

So my week so far smells like the uterus of a goat. So since the surf was nice i decided to go down to the beach and ride with the FX1 mafia. The surf out side of the inlet was really big. I was ridding the face of a wave that seamed to double in size rather quickly. I ended up nosing it in and going over the bars. No big deal i ended up 10 feet from my ski and it was up right(not for long) As I was swimming towards it another wave hit it and flipped it over.

Now is where the fun begins. Let me say "I WILL NEVER USE A SCUPPER AGAIN" my ski after being upside down for 1 minute was bobbing up and down. I grabbed my ski and tried swimming it into shore with no luck. the current was just to strong and was dragging me and gordon towards the Jetty. After fighting it for a couple of minutes I gave up because I was tired and felt like I was going to drown. I ended up getting slammed into the rocks but was able to pull myself up.

It is a horrible feeling watching your new ski float out to sea and you cant do a thing about it. As I was crying yes you would be to gordon was on the phone with sea tow. let me just say if I see the guy I will punch him in the face. So then gordon tried the state police and they were useless.

Now to my saviors the US Coast Gaurd. They went out and got my ski. After it was floating out to sea for 1 1/2-2 hrs. The lord was smiling on my last night. I have attached the pics off the damage(I got off lucky). It is basically paint work. I have a little bit of glass work but that is it.we got it running last night and today I got the gas drained and ran it on the hose for 15 minutes. The ebox was dry and the compression was 185/185.

I want to send a HUGE thank you to the Coast gaurd and to Gordon and JD for all there help last night. If it wasn't for then I would have tossed in the towel and shot myself.

SAY GOODBYE TO THE SCUPPER NEVER AGAIN......

Been there, called the Boat US tow to help a boat in distress (some people we don't know, apparently they did not have any comm, or safety equipment on board and were sinking), the guy on the phone said he can do nothing until he hears my membership number, then I called the police, by the time they transferred me to the USCG, the buddy already brought the USCG boat to the rescue. That was right under the Verrazano Bridge.
So, it took about twenty minutes on the phone, a few flares, and a ride to flag a Coast Guard boat to get help on the water on one of the busiest waterways on a nice summer weekend. :banghead:

Glad you are OK Slicker!

My main beef with a scupper. I've done a lengthy bitch thread on it, I am sure.

I have switched to a Blowsion One way, it doesn't act quite the same.

That bitch is getting plugged tomorrow.

I have never understood drilling holes in the boat
below the waterline:banghead:
Hulls are supposed to keep the water out!
THE SCUPPER is an air vent for the hull to let the air out and the water in
I just re-did a SN, defoamed and all, and no scupper for me

Because a bilge isn't as fast and takes power and on a freestyle flatwater you should be running TL which needs the power...and a bilge breaksdown over time a scupper will always work the way it was designed to:wavey:

Same deal here. I had numerous folks that told me "while you have that all defoamed, it's the perfect time to throw in a scupper". I humbly declined.

It's my experience, as it was with the 3 stooges, sometimes a water-letter-outer sometimes becomes a water-letter-inner. :stooges:
