Those two pieces that were stuck to the flywheel are probably parts of the bendix. If you expand the bendix, there should little pieces of metal next to the springs.

just split the cases and found shrapnel from the most aft bearing. all the bearings sound really bad this thing is toast.
hotrods cranks any good?

I'm using a hotrods crank in my SXR - works mint, came with all the bearings too

those marks on your cyl head look to be from detonation or preignition - signs that the motor is running too hot, also indicated frm the slight scuff mark on the piston = check your a/f mix and plugs

You might try a 9/16-12 bottoming tap (not taper) to remove the drive gear bushing from the case. Screw the tap in and attach vise grips, preferably with a slide hammer. If those tools are not available, dremel two areas til they are paper thin and collapse the bushing. Damage to your dome is probably caused by bearing parts from the crank area. You notice the rust in the visible area of the crank? I would consider it junk. It costs a lot more to rebuild it than a Hot Rods crank, they seem to last just fine.

Bad news.

You need to use better oil for your riding style.. Call me, as I have some ideas for your motor replacement..

Try putting your flywheel cover on the burner or in the oven to expand the aluminum around the bushing. You can also use a grinder and cut it in 1/2, or a large tap might catch it, then apply heat around the bushing with a crack torch to expand the aluminum.

are sbt cranks that bad?

i got your bendix covered, i have a starter(6m6 is the same, right?), you can clean up that stator or i have a pristine 6m6 stator/flywheel.

we can throw in that whole 6m6 motor for now lol

ive got that 62t engine. you can sell the race ported cylinder with matching pistons on ebay to make some of the money back, then re use your cylinder with a top end rebuild kit.
