another day (&evening) with my lady. she never says stop, no, or don't. always patient. i knew i luvd her from the start:love:. i can't wait till she tells me to ride her!:headbang:
-got the carb rebuilt.
-wire brushed the loose paint from jugs and hand sanded w/120. looks like powder coat, but is just high temp, black matte enamel x2 coats
-got the sides primed and sanded w/320. then painted x 3 coats.
pure newb style with rattle can, but not to upset with the result. it's not oem, glossy smooth, but smooth enough for below the bowline. take a look and tell me what u guys think. criticism and beer welcome. always looking to learn.

Looks really nice.
Back in the 70' I used to paint few car and putting detail like laces over.
to do that go to your fabric store then get some laces on the roll apply over the painted area and use a contrast color like white over the blue, spray at a distance of 15-20 inch depending on the spray can using a light spray pattern one or two pass over should do. best is to try on a cardboard first. and you want a faded look. clear over.
Then your girl will be ready for some action......
i like that idea. i was wondering what to do with the trasition area.

Did a little work today. Expected a billet nose cone in the mail from Riva this weekend, but no dice. Riva told me that solas doesn't even sell them to Riva anymore...hmmm? so putting the pump together was a nogo this weekend. Decided to do a little handiwork on the turf. it may not hold up for the summer, but we'll find out. Thought it would help take ur eyes off my wavy top-deck if there was something else to look at on the ski. Still have to turf the chin pad on my pole, but 95% of my turf work is done.
Got a nice -2 RN pole from Gilgoneround. Going to try and do the spacer thing for the RN pole with a SN bracket. u guys think i need to put a backing plate on the bracket? i reinforced under the pole with a single sheet of 17 oz biax.

How is that gonna work on the nose?
1. i had some carnage:skull2:last week with a seized bolt in the mani breaking off. then i busted off a easy-out bit inside the seized bolt...and then i busted the grommet on my manifold trying to tap out the easy out. got that fixed at a machine shop to the tune of $52.
2. since then, i've been spinning my wheels 4 quite some time. lots of time spent trying to figure out timing and it's relationship to TL setup. if finally got the flywheel off and installed a new pickup. getting the air gap within limits was somewhat of a biotch. the air gap distance was .066. per the instructions .050-,094 was o.k. any body run theirs down to .050?
3. installed a ADA head w/35cc domes and new gaskets all around.
4. rebuilt the carb. take a look at the worlds ugliest carb. i tried to strip the old paint that was peeling off last season. tooooo much work. i said F-it and just left it. I may get a wild hair and try to find a better looking replacement if this one gives me a bunch of trouble after the rebuild.
5. went to work on my SN bracket to fit my RN pole. i ground off the kickstand and the rubber stop grommets. take a look and see if it looks like some more needs to be ground off. i shot a pick with the pole extended it's max...i may hit the pole with the grinder for more extension. that's a yard stick holding it up. I'm a smidge over 6' and have the pole -2" and a -3" turn plate bracket, 0 degree bars. does it look to need more extension?
6. rebuilt the pump with a new wear ring, solas concord 13/16 cutback 3mm and WW cone. using a rubber impeller cone right now. need a billet one sometime.
7. planning on charging the new gel batt 2-night and tackling the pump/engine install later in the week. and gotta still do the internal fuel fill swap on my tank. hoping surfjet louie's hood and nose peice make it this week or weekend and with lots of luck have it together in the next 2 weeks.

I would make it so it extends more dude.... even with a limiting strap (Stretch under load when wet especially), if it goes up much higher something is going to break.

Yeah, you will definitely need more extension than that.
So you're currently at -5" on the pole and 0° bars? You are going to have the stiffest back after you ride that the first time. lol Keep your old bars until you've ridden that a couple times at least.
Mine is at -4" with normal bars and I've been doing power squats in and out of my chair all day long because my back hurts so much from riding Sunday.
BTW, that two tone tray looks awesome!

Any updates? I am eager to see how the nose piece is going to blend in with the turf at the front... it's my only main concern with that hood....

no hood/nose piece yet...mail runs late around here sometimes, but i hope to see them sometime late this week. believe me, i'm psyched to get 'em and get the rest of this thing going. wish i had the time and energy to do the handlepole bracket recess mods u did. that was nice work man. maybe another ski on another day 4 me.

Cool thanks man. I just didn't want to have to grind on an already weak SN bracket, and then shim it for the width. Plus I wanted to be able to run a high strength beefy bracket in the future....
(Translation..... I wish I would have just bought one of those custom made converson brackets instead of busting my ass for days trying to lower that area HAHA) :doh:
big teaser here...usps hasn't dropped off my hood/nose from surfjetlouie as of friday night. Crossing my fingers for tomorrow. Did a little SN bracket for the RN pole work and got my chinpad padded and turfed. I ground about 1/4" off the bottom of my RN pole to get more clearance. Looks to go at least 90 degrees now. Gonna need a limiting rope now though. I used 5/8" ID PVC for my spacers...cut them at 1.25 cm width and gives the pole a good snug fit between the bracket posts. What do you guys think would be a good filler for the voids in bottom of pole? And a covering for it too? Thought about just overfilling with something and then sand smooth and hit it with some paint. Got the bracket painted with flat black and mounted. Don't have one, but will need to get some sort of backing plate too.

wanted to post pics of my big, marshmallow chinpad. turfing this thing with the 25mm padding underneath was not as easy as i anticipated. wasn't terrible, but it wasn't a quick-easy either. being a noob and gonna hope to try some new tricks this summer i guess i could use all the padding i can get right now. that said, if it doesn't hold up for the whole summer i won't be upset. i like the look of the slimmer, low profile pads some of y'all got.
I got the frame/bracket off Tom21. good looking peice for $40. Mcdog hooked me up with some pad. i glued it down, with heat, and it still wanted to "bow up" off the frame. next i shaped it with a razor blade, dremel and then an orbital sander w/ 60 grit. glued the turf down and worked it around with heat and gave the bottom edge the dremel and sander treatment. superglue helped with some areas. i had a few buckle-seams on the back edge...as Farmer Hogget said to Babe - "That'll do Pig."

whoa bro how did you do such a killer job on the turf and then totally go 180 on the chinpad? :thinking: well I guess its padded enough.
I padded just the front on mine- the most likely place I would plant my face. the flat is not an issue with a helmet on. I wimped out on the turf and cut some pieces and blended em by sanding. If you have any problems with that one I will send you another( breakage) but maybe next time sand the pad down to a point? at least in the front where it meets the pole? :fing02:
