Want to get some opinions here... give me a little feedback incase I am forgetting something... All of the information about my X2 is in my build thread in my sig.

This is my "to do" list when my X2 goes back together in another week or so... Completed tasks are italicized.

Driveline
- Install bearing housing
- Install reconditioned pump from Scott at Exactal Tool
- Install 10/18 pump which scott was nice enought o check the clearances on
- I want to shorten a tail cone with some JB weld and a grinder (but this is a mod that can wait)

Hull
- I'm going to cut 1" off the back. (I don't want to go more because the turf is new. If I weaken the hull and have to glass, I'm going to be unhappy)
- I'm going to trim the rails in the back down a bit because there's no reason for them to protude out
- Install a set of the new SkiShopRules.com custom X2 sponsons
- move exhaust outlet to the front to clear sponsons
- I want to put on a fiberglass ride plate that is shortened and maybe D-Cut (but this is a mod that is easily added later)

Powerplant
- I need to figure out how to get the Factory 750 limited pipe to fit (I'll probably use a westcoat manifold and a custom bracket)
- which reminds me, I need to buy a vibration dampener for the mounting bracket..
- Replace my nameless waterbox with a stock X2 waterbox (stock SX waterbox holds less water than the box that was in my X2, but SX box wont fit) or let Tom build a custom waterbox for me.
- replace heavy rubber mounts for waterbox with something lighter
- Going to stick with my current carb set up so I'll just dial it in
- Do something more with flow restrictors or splitter or waterever it takes to clean up the bottom end, it just holds too much water and kills the power (I have a feeling the larger exhaust pipe might resolve some of this problem too)

Electronics
- Going to order a R&D timing advancement plate for the 750 electronics
- Going to have Tom lighten my stock flywheel
- I'd like to pull apart my E-box and make sure everything is properly sealed, no loose wires that could short and ETC.

The goal is to clean up my problems and tweek out the ski all at the same time.

Parts list Parts in my possession are Italicized
Factory pipe
Bearing housing
Reconditioned pump
10/18 prop
Exhaust outlet
Lightened flywheel
R&D timing advancement plate
Sponsons
stock waterbox
Flow restrictors
Vibration dampener for pipe

Will need exhaust tubing and wiring as appropiate, but not on checklist because I'm not sure what I need.

tubbies go all the way up to the front

carb tuning is a must- mikuni manual is online read it then read it again

pipe tuning is a must- factory pipe has instructions on their site- read em, good starting point.

when you exhaust all your efforts you just need to leave it with me for a few days....:sgrin:

As if you don't make enough money on me already.

Lets see... you're going to be providing the bearing housing, the flow restrictors, carb rebuild kit for my other mikuni, the sponsons, the flywheel lightening, gawsh... how about I just give you a million dollars.

Edit: The exhaust outlet... what else...

I just got off the phone with Scott from Exactal tool. My pump and props are in the mail.

I spoke to Mike from NorthWet Powersports yesterday. My R&D timing kit is in the mail.

I spoke to Tom yesterday. The X2 sponsons are chugging along and he's going to get a carb rebuild kit for me. He also said he'll be able to lighten the flywheel soon.

I talked to Primetime last week. He said he has a stock waterbox for me that he'll drop off at Tom's shop sometime.

Flow restrictors can wait... so the only other thing on the list is the exhaust outlet which Tom can probably provide for me.

The rest has to be fabricated.

Anyone else able to think of anything I should do to this ski while I'm doing a bunch of upgrades? I want to knock it out all at the same time. I'm considering doing the bottom deck modification like Crab's.

from my on experience with mods on skis and motorcyles, do one thing at a time if you do two many things in one shot it can make tuning a little harder because you dont know what mod helped or in some cases make it worse. i think your ski will be awesome with all those great parts you have

Props on the build.... Post some pics as you go if you can. I think your gonna have to glass if you cut an inch off the back.....or are you just talking about the bond line?

I would agree with you but I know the mods I'm planning will be beneficial and I don't have the time to put each mod on one at a time.

I know the pipe, flywheel, timing, prop and flow restrictors will all provide increases in power. There's no reason not to do them.

The questionable mods are the hull mods. I have been riding enough to know I need sponsons and a shorter hull. Reguardless of how they make the ski carve, I have to have them in the surf. I can turn just fine on the X2. The problem I am having is that my slashes are too aggressive and I'm nosing them in. I slash the wave and the wave carries the back over the front. More throttle just drives the nose under faster because the angle of the wave. More trim would help the problem too.

The only thing that I am unsure of is the bottom deck Mod. Crab swears buy it and I trust his judgement. It's also huge in Japan, and some of the most insane X2 riders are running it.

Ya, I'm only cutting off the bond line. There will still be about half and inch to one inch of bond line left.

Oh ya, I'm going to add some foot straps too. I'm going to mount them so they bolt through the bond line and the pump cavity. Instead of screwing them into the hull and trying to seal the water out, I think I'll just go through the bond line on both sides with a screw and a bolt.

PS. Jawbreaker, the build is the 1st link in my Sig. I started this thread to draw some attention because I'm doing a lot of things at one time and want some opinions. Once I actually get hands on with the ski, I'll start using the build thread again.

Very interesting idea. I am going to look into that as well.

Shawn, make sure you look at my build thread (the second one in my sig, I think you've seen it).

The factory goop stuff they use on the bond line only extends in about 4-6"" from the back of the ski. Considering you have already cut off a significant area from the back of your ski, bolting through the pump cavity may be unlikely for you without using an addional sealer.

Actually, here's the attached picture. Look at the bottom deck in the background. The green stuff is what is holding your ski together. That is after the hull has been cut to the mounting holes for the ride plate. As you can see, there's not a lot of sealer left, and it can vary from ski to ski. Consider using 5200 or silicone arround the foot strap bolts on the pump side if you've shortned the hull significantly (which I think you're down the the rid eplate bolts). Obviously, you don't need to do that on the outside.

ive been thinkning about getting a 750 limited pipe to it i mine as well . i have the pipe just havent dont anything with it yet .
if the angle is still wrong when you fit the pipe i thought about puting some wee slits in the pipe with a cutting wheel on a grinder to tweek it round to the right postion then getting it tig welded back up again . just a thought off the top off my head that may or may not help

So, as an update...

I got my pump back from Exactal Tool. I'm very pleased. My prop spins super smooth with the new bearings and clearances nicely with the new liner. He also included the o-ring for the tail cone. Scott does great work and is great to deal with. The best part is that Scott took a worn out 750 pump as a core so this pump only cost me $150 shipped both ways.

I also got my timing advancement plate. Mike from NorthWet PowerSports had the hook up for me. I got the R&D 750 timing advancement plate, with the gasket and the washer for just $35 shipped. A great deal! He had an old one sitting arround the shop, so sorry guys, it's a one time deal.

I tried to make use of my second 44mm SBN carb, but it's no good. It's completely shot. I'm going to continue using my current SBN44. After I sell my stock carbs (dual 40mm Keihins, with airbox and manifold, work great), I'm going to look for a single 46mm and carb, but that's down the road.

PrimeTime said he'll have a waterbox for me in a week or so, so I'll have my stock waterbox.

I get to see the layup for the new SkiShopRules.com sponsons. I'm stoked. They are going to be awsome. They look great following the contour of the hull and I just know they'll ride great. Hopefully Tom will quit slacking and get that mold finished soon. HURRY UP TOM! WE HAVE MONEY TO BURN!!!!

Speaking of money to burn... I think Tom is almost ready to start lightening Kawi flywheels. Stop slacking Tom... I need my parts!

Tom's going to make an exhaust outlet too...

GDI... I think my wallet is going to be empty soon. :haha:

Test monday...

I start sanding and laying up the Crab mod bottom on tuesday!
