...and they're all riding seadoos!

Really though, I can't get the story to load for me, so I haven't read it but I have felt that lakes were skeevy for a long time. Lake Ida, down here, often has a sign up about the county not being responsible for any skin issues related to that lake. It shows a fish with skin lesions.:puke:

This is why I prefer the canal we usually ride in. There is a constant flow going on there, unlike stagnant lake water that just sits and festers.

again :puke:

They're everywhere where the water is warm.

Texas averages one death a year from them. Lately it seems that its immigrants who treat the lakes like public swimming pools who've paid the price.

Lake Michigan is about 62 degrees right now. It rarely is over 70-75. Whew nothing to worry about. But there are some flatwater spots that could get up to 80 on the inland lakes. Wonder if there have ever been any cases in MI.

Needless to say, it will never keep me out of the water. Regardless of how warm.

Odds are about the same as hitting the lottery. I wouldnt worry about it.

Does it up the odds if you inhale about a gallon of water each time you go to the lake? I usually go both sat and sun and it feels like I get a ton of water up my nose. My dad rides to and he wears a nose plug, but I cant stand the thing. The water felt way cooler last weekend so maybe they are going to die off pretty soon.

I just heard an update on the radio. One of the kids that died apparently got it from the Orlando Watersports Complex.....the same place they had a Region 7 race earlier this year. The parents are suing the place because apparently they were responsible for keeping all amoebas out of their lake/pond. What a crock. What happened to "chit happens and sometimes it stinks"? I'm sure an ambulance chasing attorney brought them the papers and all they had to do was sign.
