Yea, I had a cop one day pull me and my girlfriend over and go to write her a ticket for no seatbelt. She was sitting in the middle with her belt on. I told him that she was wearing her belt and so did she. But he said that it is his word aginst mine that I should just pay it before the judge makes me. What BS kinda makes you wanna be a bad cop and shoot one of them.

most cops are dicks. i havent had too many problems on the water but on the road is a diff story. i use to have a yellow mustang gt and would get harrassed on a weekly basis. on time i was pulled over for speeding while i was being passed by a 4 door ford pickup who was going much faster than i. one time i was in a restaurant drive through in my yellow mustang and a cop drove down the road in front of the restaurant.....he sees me and pulls in and drives past me staring at me. he then pulls back out onto the road drives maybe 15 ft....puts it into reverse...drives backwards in an ongoing lane...looks at me again and then drives off. and no i wasnt out doing burn outs or anything like that....just minding my own business. i got to the point that i was always paranoid while driving that car so i sold it. i now have a fullsize ford 4 door 4x4 and never get pulled over even when i am speeding. i am sure jetskis are like mustangs to cops. even if you arent doing anything wrong they eyeball you like crazy. bastads

Most water cops I've run into were cool. One time we didn't have registration and all he did was make us take the ski out of the water.

My husband and I own a 69 Dodge Coronet with a blower sticking out through the hood (runs 12's easy with the back seat in place) and almost NEVER got tickets, even when we were young and stupid and blazing down main street at 20 or more over the limit.

As standup riders, we OFTEN get pulled over and talked to/safety checked, but have NEVER gotten a ticket.

Talk very nice to the man with the gun and you will not get into trouble. If you start talking back or questioning them, they will do everything in their power to make your life miserable, if not now, then in the future. Unless you WANT to get hassled every time you get on the water, watch your tongue. For your future, hassle-free riding, make sure your boat is legal, be nice to the officer, and don't do things that get you noticed. Life will be better all the way around, trust me on this one.

We have a large group of riders that run bouys in our cove and never get hassled. Technically, this is illegal, but the watercops have seen all of us helping stranded boaters, retrieving beach balls for the swimmers at the swim beach next cove over, pulling people off the sand bars, pulling disabled boats into shore, etc, and we are ALWAYS nice and wave when they drive by, etc. Building good relations with the water cops is a very good thing in the long run. Skinnyman even got asked to run a water safety seminar at one lake.

It is very possible to have good relations with the local water cops, just BE NICE and treat them as you would have them treat you, with respect and consideration. True with most human interactions, right?

I get a little aggravated with people that break the law and then blame the cops for doing their job. Would you blame the cop for coming to your rescue if you got into trouble on the water? Of course not, you would be grateful. It is just as much his job to stop people from speeding through a no-wake (part of keeping YOU and others safe) and monitoring unregistered boats. What if YOUR stolen boat was recovered because a watercop noticed some guy riding without valid numbers?

Maybe the particular cop could have handled this situation better, but so could you.

Just my 2 cents worth. Sorry for the rant, I just don't understand why you would deliberately antagonize a man (or woman) with a GUN and the authority to put you in jail. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Cops are dicks at the end of each month they have to earn their quota so they pull over random people on skis and give them B.S Tickets. And I would know i got pulled over for jumping a boats wake to close to the boat i was honestly pretty far out, you have to be at least 100 ft. away and I'm pretty sure i was but the asshole still gave me the ticket. After he wrote it up and gave it to me I just let him have it, before that i was trying to be nice and get out of it but it wasn't working.

you are right issac, it blows, its only good when there is nobody there and you can do your own thing. You can hardly balance yourself because you got all this wakes coming from 4 different directions at random times and who knows whats going on. Yesterday i got lucky if i didnt crash before trying to jump a boat wake. I think its time for miller park!! I should get my impeller mid of next week and my wiseco kit and its on!

Hey Nick Im all to familiar with the rangers out there at folsom. Yes You probably should of stopped talking back to the Ahole with the badge and went about your way. But they are def pricks out there at folsom. IVe been yelled at out there for going to fast when I was almost falling over on my ski from goin so slow. yes your friend should of had stickers. But there pretty lame need to start carrying a camcorder.

you are dead on, i forgot all about the end of the month specials haha. I was gonna jump the rangers wake and thats when he hit the sirens and warned me about going to fast in the 5mph, he said he didnt see me do it but someone else told him...

what i really hate is when i get pulled over for idling a little fast through the "no-wake zone" ( note: the bouys arent up because its before the season) so the guy give me the ol' " well rule of thumb is..." then i get a fine for a dead extinguisher ( no biggie ) then the minute the water cop leaves in his brand new SUV, a big sparkly bass boat with 4 foot wake goes flying from the dock straight out to the main water way.

They have been pretty cool the last few times I have been. I did get a little unruley with one today :banghead: No I havn't had anything to drink today officer I'm just normally this much of an a$$. probably should have kept my cool but I was already pissed about the situation they were there to fix.

Yo Nick where do you usually launch at when you go to folsom? As far as going to the river I use to go there more but the cops were just parking on the beach and waiting for people to do something wrong. Its unfortunate than any moron with some money can go out and buy a ski thats way over powered for their riding ability it ruins it for the rest of us but life goes on...I hate cops plain and simple never had one come to my rescue yet so until that day............at folsom I noticed its not as bad launching out at rattlesnake.

shonuff i take it you werent there when this happened i was actually nice to him when he warned me, and i wasnt causing any wakes heck i was barrely going over 5mph. I told my friends to slow down, they obviously didnt care, i had to go get my friend who found the ski and i told him exactly what to tell the guy, that he found it and yada yada... i didnt know he found it till today, and i didnt even see he didnt have numbers on it ... and i think you went to far with the not being able to spell "too" i was perfectly capable ... and i dont recall even needed to spell "too" just "to's" GOSH!!! my friends were saying sorry and nothing worked... he got my other friend for having corrosion on his fire extinguisher!!!... were these guys awesome or what?!!

Hater cops, they are everywhere. You just want to pump spray them, but my advise is ride elswhwere and hope you dont have to see the AZZHOLE again. We aint hurtin no one and 9 times out of ten they pic out the stand up riders who are probably the safest ones there. We just stand out and they are simple people (the hater boat cops that is). There are some that are very reasonable though and we have our share of both here in TN..
