Went riding today on the x-2. Riding around for a while then I noticed one of the local party boats, Gateway Clipper, really close to the shore. These are pretty big boats to be close to the shore. They began to wave me to the shore. So I see two people in the water waving their hands frantically. So I run over there. The woman was pretty upset. I thought they might have lost their dog in the water. I was trying to find out what was wrong. She said that is was a man. I was like ohh crap. She asked me to run over to the clipper and get a life preserver. On the clipper there was Cop who called river rescue. So I ran back over to the couple in the water. By the time I got back to them river rescue showed up. The told me to leave out of the immediate area and I did. I rode around down stream just to be another pair of eyes out there. I rode around for a good while and then saw the divers surface. They found the man. He was pretty close to where he went under. They began CPR on him. They then took him to the dock and loaded him into an ambulance. I just heard that he is in critical condition. He was under for 15 min.
From what I was told he went in the water to get a dog that went out pretty far. I guess he then didn't come back up. I think that the man's son's were there. There was a younger boy on the shore holding a dog and crying hysterically. I think that one guy in the water was also a son.
Everything happened so fast. Kinda makes you think back and wish you could have done more. My prayers go to the family. You never know what can happen.
