Front seat done and it is fabulous !

The trick on these is to stitch that rear piece in where it makes that funky angle , if you look closely at the rear of the seat you can see the stitching , you cannot pull that 30 degree angle without pulling the foam way out of shape .

Headed back out to do the rear seat after lunch , I didn't get to decide to pull it in one piece or not , the vinyl decided for me , I don't have a big enough piece of vinyl for a one piece so three piece stitched it is , it's really 6 of one or a half dozen of the other , it's just two straight stitches and two top stitches , no biggie , the one piece seat is much harder to pull and get all the wrinkles out , the stitched seat is much easier to install and make it look right , so stitched it is .

Some guy messaged me about 10 minutes after I put it on Marketplace wanting to know if I would trade for a 2001 Big bear ATV , the ski is listed at $2700 , now most likely it won't bring that but how does anyone think a 2001 Big Bear is worth anything close to that kind of money , $ 1000 is about all that ATV is worth.

I have over 7 skis listed and all I have gotten is trade offers and low ballers ..... money is tight ..... if i put the basket cases up people want to pick them up.....

Might have to consider only rebuilding some and direct flipping others .... it goes against my " i have to fix everything and make whole " motto

Seat looks great , I have several of those here , a 95 XP , a 96 XP and a 97 SPX , one day I will fix them but two man skis just don't sell here

Never did upholstery that had vinyl with a plastic seat base . Always wood base. What kind of stapler do you use? Pneumatic or electric ? Certain size staples ?

I have a Porter cable Pneumatic stapler , it shoots #7 staples , I get the staples from the upholstery supplier in Montgomery , I use 1/4 on just the vinyl but on stuff with those plastic corners like on Seadoo seats I use 1/2" staples there for extra holding power.

I got an offer of $2000 on the GTX RFI , I am not selling it for that , $2500.00 is my goal price here , anything less and I will just keep it and ride it myself .

On to the seats , this is a set I recovered probably 10 years ago , I don't have to fix any foam just recover them , I start by flipping them over and running a razor knife around the edge cover to remove it , this leaves a band about 1/2" wide , this helps when removing the staples , you can put pressure on the band while prying the staples out with a small screwdriver and the staples come out much easier that way.

I cut the seams and I will have my patterns for the new covers , I will probably only put a seam at the rear of the front seat and pull the rear seat from one piece of vinyl , not my first rodeo , maybe my 100th , maybe I lose count.
I removed my first seat cover last night, its a WB2. Cutting around the edge to help remove the staples sounds like a great idea. ill have to remember that. Thanks.

GP 1200 NON PV recovery, back up and running now but won't got beyond 40 mph on the water according to dashboard, idle ok , not really to sluggish, carbs all rebuilt with genuine mikuni, compression good, otherwise any suggestions , reeds ? Test for back blow ?

Yes given my prior experience with bad reeds on those yes I would check that first , use your GPS on your phone to verify your true speed on the water .

I have also seen some creased fuel pump check valves on those cause running issues .

I finally got a real bite this morning , he wanted to run the ski and asked how much I would charge to bring it to point A in Andalusia, my answer , if you are serious and have cash in hand , no charge . We met at 2:30 , he rode it , liked it jewed me down to $2500 and away it went , I always give people the benefit of the doubt, that ski had a cover and a trickle charger I would have thrown in the deal if he had paid $2600 as I had it advertised , my rule is if you jew me down you don't get the bling bling , on to the next one , there is a cold Corona longneck calling my name.

Sounds dumb $ amount wise
but yeah I'm right there with you

If someone pays up, I'll sit on the phone with you and trouble shoot any future issues you have and be as transparent as I can be.

If you beat me up in person and drag out the sale. You're on your own.

I wasn't giving away a new charger and a new cover , cost wise on his part it still doesn't make sense though , thing is once you beat me up on the price you will never know it was even an option .

I am trying to decide on which way to go next , high dollar four stroke or el-cheapo two stroke , my thinking is to save the four strokers till the economy gets better , I think the cheapo units might sell better right now and I want top dollar for the our strokers .h e
t just needs a few cosmetic tweaks like seats and a few other tricks I have up my sleeve that will cost nothing , the two areas on the back of the ski where the Seadoo decals are have a ton of spider cracks in the gelcoat, I am not going to fix them , I might have to clean the carbs again , maybe $1600 -1800 on this one , quick in and out ?

I just pulled the trigger on this ultrasonic cleaner yesterday , it's a 6 liter outfit , it will be here Monday and make my life a lot easier cleaning carbs and injectors , work smarter , not harder.

Price here would be 1600-1800 , but the way the market is including the single trailer ....

As for the Ultrasonic cleaner .... can u get a complete tripple rack in there ? How much did it cost ? How long do the carbs have to sit in there and how good does it reallty cleean ?

I don't know any of that yet , but I did a lot of research and it all says that the ultrasonic cleaners will get to places that nothing else can reach , most cleaning cycles are about 30 minutes , it will still get carb cleaner blasted through everything just to be sure , most of the triples I deal with the carbs come all apart off of the racks anyway , such as Yamaha XLT-GP carbs , on those full disassembly off the rack is required anyway to clean them. so it really doesn't matter , I can answer some of those questions after I get it Monday , they were on sale during Amazon Prime days for $84.00 .

I used to use an old crock pot and heat up Yamaha carb cleaner in it to clean carbs with back in the heyday , I don't clean as many sets now as I used to and these days I am not super fast like I used to be , now I concentrate more on doing an excellent job that on the speed at which it is done.

The three cleaners I have seen recommended most for use in these are LA awesome cleaner, Pine -Sol and Simple green .

Usually I am working on twin carbs and they should all fit just fine without disassembly , I rarely work on triple except for the Yamahas, I have been dealing with a lot of injectors lately also and I hear the ultrasonic is the way to go for the first initial cleaning stage on injectors.

I am just wanting to get my feet wet here , if I find that I need a bigger one down the road I do have someone that will buy this one from me.

Looks the same unit I have. Turn the heat up, let it warm up, then cook the carbs. Works like a champ! I usually run 1/4 cup of Awesome or purple degreaser in mine.

It said Monday but apparently it is arriving today so we shall soon see .
I signed up for an Amazon Visa card and got a $200 gift card credit from Amazon , so for all intents and purposes this unit is free .
