Ideas for bilge pump switch locations..

All connections soldered, shrink wrapped and coated in liquid electrical tape yet they still manage to screw up.:banghead:
Liquid electrical tape sucks for marine use. I usually get at least 2 years out of my switch setup. After soldering a plain marine ON/OFF switch using tinned wire I completely cover the back side of the switch (up to the threads) to 3" down the wires with 5200. I then put a switch boot sealed with silicone around the threads. Works great.

I like the toggle switch on the dash tray because I would use my foot to turn it on/off while riding.

However, I'm trying something different on my new SJ so we'll see...

Do not remove your fuel shutoff valve unless you only ride right in front of your house .
Word! I can see it for racing or flat lake freestyle...but never for freeriding.

Shut your mouth. Don't get me started on removing the fuel petcock.
was that necessary?

I never have had a fuel petcock and I ride surf from an inlet. You can get a good hour and a half out of your tank, I do and I have daul 44's.

Pat at X-Metal is now carrying the CPI waterproof toggle switches, I have some still on skis that I installed them over 5 years ago and still working just fine! These will not shock you too! Main thing you want to do when you install them, is to zip tie the wires so they come straight out from switch and don't let them bend too close to the switch.

P.S. I do mount them on the underside of handpole under the steering plate so you can fick it on with your left hand finger anytime without having to reach down to the tray or having to twist a switch...

5 years of fresh or salt use?

I removed my fuel selector knob and mounted a rotary switch in the same location.

I personal feel that the reserve fuel selector knob is a just extra weight.

Only run a single pick up line mount at the bottom of the tank with a small screen at the end.

I also use an hour meter to tell how much gas I have remaining.

I've have had too many lean seizures because of that short hose in the tank when there's still fuel remaining.

Pull out your fuel pickup and remove that plastic cover so you can acess the other fuel tube and attach another hose the same length as the reserve hose but cut the end that sits inside the tank on an angle. then put you plastic cover back on, now you can run a fuel line to each carb, that is if you have daul 44's or if each carb has a fuel pump.

Eh...I use the switch JSS sells. I mounted it in the tray dash.

I turn it on when I put the ski in the water.
I turn it off when I leave.

I'm going to be using a remote fuel pump soon but it only has one 3/8" inlet and two 1/4" outlets.

So I'm going to mount a larger 3/8" aluminum tube single pick up in the tank or just use the dual 1/4" tubes with a Y-fitting 1/4"x 1/4" to 3/8".

I like using the single tube because there is less of a chance of sucking up air when mount directly at the bottom.

yeah thats why i was sayin to put an extra length of hose on the ON pickup inside the tank so it goes to the bottom of the tank so the reserve and on go to the bottom of the tank so you can run each pickup to each carb.

Didnt know anyone actually keeps the plastic dash, thats inovative and new in its self.

I kept my plastic dash and put a red indicator light in the middle, put the toggle switch under the pole (near the turn stop bolt). Also, made slots at the top of each of the humps on the side of the latch for the hood straps to come through, straps are bolted to the body underneath.

Pic later if I can get to it.

I mount the short stem JSS just under the hood latch. Cant be seen easily and hood latch protects it. I also turn it on when I get on the boat and turn it off when I get off. Works great, consealed and protected.

I run a rotary switch setup. I'm not saying it's the best or anything, but that's what I own. I'll tell you what though, I don't like the primer or bilge switch on the dash. I've kicked the damn things off too many times and broken them.
