It was rattle-can. I picked up a trigger adapter that makes the spray cans function like a spray gun (like $3.00 - makes it easier to hold and spray). I think I used 3 cans of paint and 2 clear coat or something. It was auto paint - can't recall the brand name.

that is likely what I will do next, since I have a spray gun and compressor.

Not sure it is $40 here though for 2 stage paint.

what brand and quantity did you buy?

Oh ok I understand ya now.

FYI

just for the initial guy, test any clear over the appliance paints first, they arent widely compatible!

I'm not sure if you're interested or not but I was reading my Hot Rod magazine the other day and I came across a new product. This paint is a single or dual stage paint that gives the FLAT black look. It's not primer, but it appears like one with greater wear durability and it doesn't fade or chalk up.

I'm pretty sure you're looking for something gloss and not flat, but if you're interested I'll look up the contact info for you. Let me know.

OK here are a couple the ski isn’t all black but it is still has a good gloss to it. I sprayed it with rustoleum white and black. I used a PJ1 clear coat that comes in a spray can to finish it off.

The first pic is in June and the last I think November the clear coat is a little soft but holds up to gas being spilled on it.

flat black is awesome i just don't know about its durability compared to an epoxy enamel paint. i would def be interested. thanks

Demo, I checked the magazine again and it's through a company called Kerker Automotive. You can find them here...

http://www.kirkerautomotive.com/index.html

The paint is called 'Hot Rod Black'. Indeed it's a single stage urethane that gets good coverage in 2 medium wet coats.

Price is $46.00 for 3/4 gallons.

Hope this helps. This would look hot on a ski!
