SXR SXR taking on a lot of water

My sxr takes on a ton of water VERY QUICKLY if it rolls over upside down or even on its side. When its on its side I think the water is coming in from the hood area, when its upside down (only once) Im pretty sure it filled up through the RRP handle pole tubes. I need to figure out a way to limit how much water is entering the engine bay. The intake holes in the hood has the frogskins over them but Im not sure that they stop water flow if they are submerged? Also while just sitting in 12" of water on the side of the lake after 5 minutes there will be like over a gallon of water the electric bilge pump will pump out. This is a limited ski and has the magnum pump with the siphon tube still in use with the stock bilge system also. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, I can take pics of whatever you need to see.

Thanks

First couple things that come to mind are the condition of the hood seal and to double check that the hoses for the siphon bilge are still tied up to a high point above the ebox. If the hoses drop too low in the hull, water can backflow when the ski is sitting.

Hood seal is in great condition and the bilge hoses are in the stock high position.

I changed the stock hull drain plug with one of those automatic drains with the ball inside but even with the stock drain plug it did the same thing.

My 2 concerns are:

1. Why does it take on water just sitting in a foot of water on the shore?

2. What can I do to prevent it from taking on huge amounts of water when I roll it over in the lake?

The seals on your bearing carrier that support the driveshaft may also be leaking when it sits and allow water to enter past the driveshaft into the bilge"

What he said...I encountered this problem before as we'll. changed the seals and my stock drain plug to a versi plug and never had a water problem again

Install a bilge and leave it running when you are riding. Done and done. Mine fills up with a Versiplug too so I hit the bilge on the stand, wait for the water to clear, then ride.

First step: Install one of these and never worry again about your ski sinking while sitting.

Next: put in Drain plug and fill up ski...look for leaks.
Then: Block off front hole on hood. Open a 2nd one in the back, this will help stop water getting in
Finally: lets see pics of how your RRP is attached at the hull.

The Hood design is such that it allows alot of air into the engine bay. Keep in mind this hull was designed for racing. Not freestyle........... You roll it over, it is going to take on alot of water..........

Add the bilge pumps like DJ mentioned. He has more experience with the SXR from a freestyle/freeride standpoint than the rest of us...... I loved my SXR............. Its sole purpose was for racing. Have a SJ for playing.

I am more of a keep the water out kinda guy and my last 4 A/M hulls had no bilge pump. I'm not as agressive anymore as some on here, but even ocean riding I've not had an issue. Has the OP thought of buying a Bullet Racing or Trinity hood? Even in glass you should drop an easy 20lbs, increase airflow for the motor and decrease water entry. Just my opinion and I know it might be a pricey option but with multiple benefits is an all win proposition. Have fun!

Trinity hood makes a HUGE difference. Your ski will be faster, lighter and it will get WAY LESS water in. I have the $500 glass version and it is an awesome hood.

At least block off the front holes on your stock hood with anything (*duct tape, even) and create a 2nd hole in the back. Makes a huge difference too as far as getting water in.

Still need to see pics of that RRP setup

only 1 gallon after laying the boat over for 5mn?sounds like this thing is as watertight as a duck's posterior to me.
fill it up with water and check for leaks.if nothing then go ride!
and frog skinz do not work.seal front of hood and open the back.dual rrp will let more h2o in as well.
