UOTE=IceRocket1286;134079]Surprisingly enough, I thought the same thing last winter. Then this summer at a couple races, I spent half my down time changing the length of my stock kawi pole steering, because of water conditions. I just have different subplates and turnplates, nothing fancy, and it was a big pain in the a s s to do when I changed. The RRP pole is actualy nice to be able to adjust it for racing, for freeriding I dont see any purpose, unless you like to change it up. It is pretty expensive, no doubt. I want one though. and I still think the measley 12.5 pounds doesnt matter much compared to an xmw 9.5. Some people I know like their poles heavy.... I think thats nuts[/QUOTE]

Maybe ok for a highly compeditive race boat, but not required in freeride so $1200.00 is tooooo much. And it is the SXR racer pole of choice so it has its place I am sure.
Just like a racer wouldnt buy a carbon fiber hull HUH?

True. At least not a carbon hull of stock design, pros would probably buy them for mod class and change them up to handle better with their speeds and power. th RRP Pole itself is 800, and throw in 130 for UMI steering, and find a used roundnose pad..... say $1000. a UMI conversion is about the same all said and done. If you use the stck bracket and RRP pole that is.

This pole can't weight very mucha nd is half the price. I can't imagine would be too difficult ot make it "adjustable" somehow.

The RRP is 800 - but it's highly recommended to run the corresponding pole bracket, too. That's 315.

ok, i havnt read everyones reply's but this is my 2c.

I rode with one of these poles on my SXR at world finals. its a little heavy but nothing that cant be fixed with a pole spring tensioner for $25.

The only advantage it has or looks and the adjustability.

IMO if you are happy with the length of your pole right now stick with it. if not buy the RRP another advantage is if you change ride plate/intake grate combos it may react better to a different length pole/body position.

But in one life time you should only have to buy 1 RRP. the rest should just be UMI/AC/XMW at the length in which you liked your RRP.

If I had to do it again, I would go with the -2 Dale's pole on my SXR. You can't beat the price and they are guaranteed forever.

Dales Pole: $569
RRP : $900

I doubt the RRP is worth almost 2 poles.

Dales jetsports pole is actually really nice. I rode a ski with one, and its a great pole. I just dont care for the look though.

Loris from pwctoday, hes over in europe, showed me his website waveracing. Its cool, they make a pole thats adjustable, carbon fiber, and looks stock. They actually have some really sweet looking stuff for an sxr.... I like the auto adjusting scoop grate!

I'm getting the RRP this winter. On an SXR the price is almost a wash compared to the UMI. Blowsion sells the UMI SXR conversion for about a G note. The RRP bracket is not necessary unless you want to run more air through the pole and to run it stronger for freestyle. The biggest value is in its adjustability which is why it is popular with racers. Plus it looks pretty cool. When I get mine, its getting a nice powdercoat job. :woot:

Ok, it seems that there is a lot of good information here, but some of it may be confusing to most readers. The RRP is 800 bucks! You can use your stock mounts, and for the SXR it costs way too much to buy all the SJ pieces that go with it, definitely 1200 plus. The UMI and or X-Metal also cost way too much for the SXR. The Dales pole is the only one that is currently "inexpensive" for the SXR. 569 and it supposedly uses all the stock steering and comes with a chin pad. I think it's just ugly! But for the SJ, or to compare pole prices, the UMI is 500-525, the X-metal is 500, the Dales is 570, and the RRP is 800. There are differences in the X-metal price, if you own a SJ and buy the bracket also, but it will not work on the SXR, because of the hood brackets mounting to the bracket.
Therefore the RRP is 300 more than any pole on the market, which is way too much for just adjustability. That said, I bought one because after shortening an AC pole -3", which was a royal PITA, and looking at a UMI to see how much work it would take to shorten. Riding all types of poles on other peoples skis. The only reason I bought it for freestyle was because I was not sure, on a SXR, how long I really want my pole to be. There is a lot of feedback on a SJ for this topic, but most SXR's are race only. I put mine on at approx. - 3 to 4 inches this year and will go shorter next spring. Currently I have -1 steering, 0 deg bars, and I set the RRP pole to stock SJ length which is -1 on a Kawi. I did not want to get too far forward on the Kawi because it is so nose heavy to begin with.
