Super Jet Buying a RN hull without title?

I found a good deal for a 01 rn hull with 61x complete motor/ electrical for $500 w/o title. The hull is bare absolutely nothing on it, no hood, no turf, no pole and the nose where the tow loop hole is in the front is broken off and would need fiberglassed/ reinforced back on. I'm thinking it can be fixed and I could sell the motor and break even maybe? Is this a smart move to buy it without title? let me know your opinions on this.

Does it have HINs? If so, here's what you do in WA.

Buy it with bill of sale. Go to DMV with bill of sale, they will give you a piece of paper with public records request. You fill that out and send it in. They send you previous owner's info. You send another paper certified mail to the registered owner. They have like 15days to respond, if not, you get the title after 2 years, but you become registered owner. Or, if they fill out paper and return it to you notarized, you get title and registration right way.

Oh, and ya. Make sure it's legit. Doesn't hurt to get the HIN number and run it by the state patrol and make sure it's not stolen before buying. Titles get lost and stuff happens.

Only the registered owner can file for lost title, that's the easiest method. If he is registered owner, have him file for lost title. Offer him an extra $50 or something to save you the hassle. That's a good deal as it is.

he's not the registered owner. I guess it was some freestyle pro guys hull named matt forgot the last name. Anyways, he sold it. This guy never registered it. And lost it yada yada. He said he has the original bill of sale from the original owner though.

my local wildlife agent will run HINs for no cost
and provide name and (old) contact info of the owner
not sure how it works on the left coast

They can't freely give out the registered owner contact here because of privacy issues, but it is public records and can be gotten, it just has to be attained their way and you have to have a good reason for it.

The deal does sound legit, and if he has the previous bill of sale, that helps with getting the contact info of the owner, heck, you might be able to source out the original owner from the bill of sale and have him file for lost title directly, then he can "sell" it to you.

In WA, you don't need bill of sale technically, you just need the title signed with dollar amount filled in. Or, using the way I described above, get that release of interest and have the original owner meet you at a bank (or any notary) so he can sign and have it notarized, then it's yours free and clear.

Say, is that hull orange, shortened, and has tubbies?

I might know the previous owner. He might be willing to help you out.

Is this what the front looks like?

Haha ya. Do you live in tri cities? The ad says tubbies, shortened 2 inches, front nose damage/ broken off, and footholds. Also the hull is a 2001

Yup, I am the previous owner. I don't have the HIN anymore.
I'll gladly help you out, I just need the HIN. I think the reg number used to be WN1480NR

Never did. I sold the hull to a guy on the west side of the state about two years ago. That guy ran out of money and is now apparently trying to sell it (without the XMW pole and WDK hood that I sold it with).
The pro freestyler claim came from him, certainly not me.
