Pancaked a backy and broke all four motor mounts AND my coupler. I had motor mounts and a new coupler in my stash just for this occasion but when I was removing the old coupler, the oil seal race on the back of the crank came out also! That’s a new one! Didn’t stop me though because it just so happens that I happened to have one of those races laying around because on my last rebuild I ordered one with the Crank seals (not knowing what it was, I just ordered everything on the parts schematic). When my new crank came with the race already installed I thought I’ll never use this thing, Well never say never!

Did you break couch or SJ mounts ? I believe the 760 crank has the slim sleeve over the collar like that and the 701 has the solid one piece collar ? Nice carnage !

Thats a 701 crank. The spare race I had I ordered off the parts schematic. The actual crank I got from Art at Jetworks, which had the race on it also when I got it (which is why I didn't use the one I ordered) Its so thin I don't think most people realize that they are on there, I didn't!

Damm, sorry to hear that 227. Hopefully you get it back on the water soon.

Already back! did this yesterday morning and since I had the day off I spent the rest of the day wrenching! Got lucky that I just so had all the parts I needed to get it back together! Who would keep an extra crank seal race laying around????

That is how stock couplers break. Your 64X-65V 760 style seal wear ring slipped off which is also common. Install the new one with some loctite.

couch mounts are not as rigid and are made to support the heavier weight. the best solution is new oem sj mounts. and of course proper alignment.

Some of the Florida east coast guys would disagree with you both and say they have been unable to break couch mounts...couch mounts are not as rigid but are larger in diameter...four new oem sj mounts do not last even with keepers and that is a fact...

Mine lasted for five seasons of abuse.

stock yamaha superjet mounts. change them every 2 or 3 years you will nevr break one. unless you land on ur head 100 times but then you really should give up at that point.

OEM SJ mounts suck ! I ripped the tops off 3 out of 4 new ones in 7 mths...Couch mounts are solid and lasting...Anyone else like couch mounts or would guys rather just disagree ?

I don't have any experience with couch mounts. Just saying that I had a good run with OEM SJ mounts.
After those broke, I switched to XFT mounts. They've been holding up to my constant abuse for a year now.

I have killed and looked at enough SJ mounts to see with my own eyes that couch mounts are way better.....at least I think that is what my Wamilton mounts are...

like I said, proper alignment, oh and you have to clean your ski well too if you ride salt. James, you are on a mission- I get it- oem carrier bearings and couch mounts are a must for you. just wondering how the other 99.9% manage to get by?

Yes Tom... I am on a mission to use the best parts because I ride every week and listen to what better riders than me have learned along the way...I think your 99.9% manage number is way off from what guys post on here about better options...
