how hard is the Carbon Fiber process? and whats needed to do it? looks sick!
The carbon fiber is very easy to lay, easier than glass I think. The only thing you have to be careful is not to pull the weave. I used 3:1 epoxy resin and 2x2 5.7 ounce carbon. You don't need anything to different than glass, I used a foam roller instead of a brush to lay the resin and smooth it then went over it with a stainless resin roller to remove air bubbles. Vaccume bags would be nice for strength and the lightest possiable part but I'm not to that level yet. Getting a glossy, smooth finish was the hardest thing, took me about 10 coats of clear and a bunch of sanding.
Man I love that CF hood and fuel door. Did you make them yourself? How much would it cost to get one on my ski?
Ya, I did it myself. They are not full carbon, just lay overs. If the pipe works good I will use this hood as a mold and make a full carbon one in a month or so. Then nose peice would be cool too in full carbon, but I think it would be pretty hard to get a good mold off of. I think the lay over is better on the nose peice. I may still try to make one though.
