Yes!!! I got my first ski.... a superjet

I just got back last night from picking up my first jet ski, a modded 1994 superjet. I was going to get a stock one and build it up but I couldn't pass this deal up. It was $300 more than I was going to pay for the stock one I was looking at for the same year. It is a 1994 squarenose SJ with factory B pipe, skat trak 9/17 (is this a good pitch?) impeller, Riva Ride Plate and Intake Grate, K&N Flame Arrestor, Aluminum Handlepole, Taper Bored Carb, and Milled Head (185# compression). I picked it all up with a double trailer with a toolbox on it for $1720 and got all the factory parts also. It is in great shape and I can't wait to get it on the water!!! How does this setup look? Also, I have a few questions about my new ski. Is there anything maintenance-wise I should do before taking out a new/used ski? Everything looks great and runs great. She starts up right away with no hesitation whatsoever. I will be picking up a Yamaha manual tomorrow or Tuesday for the ski also. I will take my own pics later and post them but here are a few pics from the original owner

um - you don't need that B-pipe. They really suck for SJ's. send it to me and I'll make sure it's properly disposed of

just keeping yor best interests in mind

nice find!

I got a question. For my riding, mostly lake michigan (once I get the hang of riding) and inland lakes around here is the 9/17 prop going to be sufficient? Also, are the intake grate and ride plate that I have good? The guy said they were the "groovy" Riva Ride Plate and Intake Grate. I heard that stock rideplates were better for freeriding on a SJ. Should I put the stock one on or keep the Riva?

The Good Old Days
First thing I would do is go through all the nuts and bolts and make sure they are tight.
Them things shake.

Wouldn't want anything to loosen up and brake on the first ride.

BTW, nice ride.:arms:

I won't be emptyin out the bank account too soon lol. I got all of the mods I could want for a while. So now I can just concentrate on learnin to ride! I just got back from about a half hour of ridin in the pouring rain. I got a little too cold and tired to keep battling the superjet in an attempt to ride it :banghead: . Anybody got any tips on starting out riding? I know to ride around on your knees to get a feel for balancing and turning but I can hardly do that lol. Any tips are appreciated. Im getting up early tomorrow to go ridin again :woot:

do not ride around on your knees, or we will have to find you and clip your nuts... he he.. j/k

you must keep on your feet. Go as fast as you can go without falling... get an idea of that speed in your head. Then, just keep pushing the limits.. if you went 15mph and made a long turn, try to do it at 20mph the next day... you will fall, but that is part of it... Just don't be afraid of falling a lot at first.. It shows you are pushing yourself to learn... just keep doing the monotonous things like turning and short high speed runs (when you feel it's safe for you) another tip.. if you fall, don't let go of the bars, just let the ski drag you till you can pop the throttle and get back on... saves you a lot of energy in swimming... werd up???
