well heres my winter entertainment.
plans: 61x/61x 730cc ( 6m6 flywheel, probably lightened) single carb changing from 6m6 701
Rn pole ( about -4 )
shorten hull -2.5 inches ( new foam )
"slutty" hood mod with handholds
already have: b pipe, bilge, 13/16 skat prop, ww cone, D cut plate, 0 deg bars, 24/7 holds, fac. pip water box, r&d scoop

so far i stripped the hull, going to pick up the engine soon. I also cut out the footholds to help with removing the foam/cutting bottom. tonight i flipped ski over, removed exhaust, and marked bottom.

Remember, If you are shortening your hull you will probably want your footholds farther forward than normal. You might even want to shorten the pole a tick more. I have ridden freestylegeeks boat and that short hull is squirley. Good for back flips, but tougher to ride.

Absolutely! Everything needs to be shortened accordingly. You'll also want to play with different length ride plates. I know Pat (Xscream) likes a stock length ride plate on his shorter hulls. I am yet to try a stock length plate, but I think it might help the 'squirlliness'.

If you're really ambitious, you could pop in a WaveRaider midshaft and move the engine forward 1". That might take care of a lot of the nose light attitude.

You're going to love it once you get used to it!

well i guess you could say iurr:'d out on cutting my hull. i figured id rather ride a shortened hull again to make sure i like it. but i will be getting a trim system instead. most likely a gp800 system.

update

time for an update:

• recieved my pro-tec trim the other day. its converted from a drop nozzle ( thanks robert ). It has maybe 15 deg. of trim. ( dont worry itll be getting a sand blasting )
• Also went and picked up my new ( to me ) engine. its a 61x/6m6 726cc shortblock. i got it for $300, so i couldnt pass it up. Ill be swapping everything over from my 6m6 except the manifolds/reeds.

removed foam. the left side is mostly dry, so i figured no need to remove good stuff. I got almost all the wet stuff out of the right side, but i think im done as it is. I was only planning to remove the major wet stuff, and i did. so i think ill be getting foam and glass soon, and sealing this sucker back up. let me know what you think.

keep at it your gettin their its a pain to do but your doin it right and youll be more confident in the ski and ride it harder next year

Just my thoughts. I cut the tray out of my ski this makes for defoaming easy, Well as easy as it gets also easy to reinstall tray. Seal all hardware ,install scupper and tie top and bottom deck together.Bullet proff. Running no foam with drains in rear. Back is water tight . When in dought on your build have a drink and look @ it for some time, it will help

I thought about running it foam-less, and installing a scupper, with drain plugs. What are the odds of it cracking terribly and me sinking it? and how do you tie the hull together??
