I know its been done, does anyone know how far up or down and forward or back the engine has to be moved to line up correctly?

or links to pages with info on doing the retrofit. Do any of the japanese places have bedplates made to drop in to accomodate doing this?

i have 2 X2 hulls, one is getting a 750 and i have a yami 701 built motor that is just sitting on the bench. I thought id do a little fabrication and put that in the other hull. Itll be cheaper then selling and getting another 750 built

I thought of doing the same thing, but in the end you can build plenty of power with 750/800 based motors. If you wanted extreme, I would go GP800 or 3 cylinder Kawi.. PS its been done.

I have never ridden a 701 SJ but everyone keeps telling my they have killer low end. I did ride a dry piper 750 SXi Pro once and it had killer mid range. I want to put one of those engine/pipe combinations in my X2 but the dry piope won't fit without major hull mods.

Everyone I have talked to swears the 750/800 platform set up properly can do everything the 701 will with a lot less work converting. I'm still thinking about the B pipe chamber idea, I do have reservations running it with the 650 exaust manifold and might consider the 750 FP manifold. I just don't want to put it together and compromise the performance with undersized parts.

Well if that is the case have you ever looked at a Kawi 650 stator and a 61X stator? They are twins seperated at birth. The Charging and lighting coils are visually identical. The yamaha has a little extra coil that won't interfere with a Kawi flywheel, I think it is called a pulse coil but not really an expert. The flywheels are identical and would be interchangable except the Yamaha keyway is bigger than the Kawi. So either run a 650 kawi flywheel or have the keyway on the Kawi crank opened up to accept the bigger keyway if you really care.

I have always run 650 Kawi electrics on my 840 and plan on trying the 61x Stator/ 650 kawi flywheel / 61X MSD CDI and 760 coil on my kawi motor sometime. I need to test some different ignitions atfer I get some more important things sorted out but I figured that was a good first attempt at improving over the 650 electrics I run.

Personally I have never had an electrical failure in any of my Kawis. I have had a lot of trouble keeping water out of the figgin electric box on my SJ though. Although I will never run a 750 Kawi based ignition because the 750 Stators are junk.

Yamaha motor in X2

I did this for a Blowsion customer approx 10 years ago.. It was an easy conversion, and the "bottom end" increase was well worth it.. You might contact Blowsion and see if there any photos left??
