xft scupper pipe diameter

got the xft scupper and went to the hardware store figuring I would get some 3" pvc to make the hole... well I didnt think about the pipe size being 3" id and the scupper is 3" od...

The pvc od is like 3.5 inches.... so I dont think that is a good idea to use it....

Who has installed the xft scupper? What size pipe did you use to install it? Did you just use the pipe that came with the scupper to drill the hole through the foam?

Thanks.

never mind... I made it work. Got a 2" pipe, made the saw teeth on the end, got my heat gun and bent the saw teeth out to 3"... worked alright... a little messy job but ok

I know it is too late but I used a wire wheel on a die grinder to eat the foam out. Those wire wheels go through foam like butter quick and painless.

You figured it out, huh?

I dont have a xft but i fabricated my own doing the same method with 2" pipe. Looks like it's gonna work. Show some pics of what you did.

the xft's pvc is about 2" too long so all you gotta do is putt slots in the end about 1" down and spin and slide itll cut right through the foam as you slide it through then when you get it all the way through just cut the excess off for future reffrence for others

Tried that... it got about 1/3 through and became too hard to twist. I could not drill a hole in it to make a handle to twist.

Perhaps someone could make the supplied 3" tube into a saw and make it work... but it did not work for me.

Better alternative to my method would prob. be to get some type of pipe that would actually have a 3" outside diameter and make the tube saw out of it.

I think it might have happened because I tried to travel down to the bottom of the hull (inside the V shape) too quick... maybe it was binding a little bit because of this and stopping me from twisting the pipe anymore... either way, it was a bit more of a PITA but if you persist you will end up with the same result...

I wish I could have got mine to work using the supplied scupper tube as a saw... would have been easier/faster than trying to figure out an alternative....
