650/X-2 X2 prep before starting (garage find)

Ok guys Im new to an x2. Ive been wanting to purchase one for awhile. So I found one over the weekend that has been on a stand in a guys garage for 5-6 years without starting. The story is that the carb started to act up and he personlly wasnt cracy about the x2. Said it was hard for him to ride and he never really got the hang of it. So instead of fixing it he just put it on a stand and bought a new ski. He had the intentions of fixing it one day, but like many of us life got to busy.

So I have it home now and I dont want to just throw a hot battery to it and hit the starter. What i've done so far is pull the plugs out of it and poured a little mystery oil down the cylinders, also poured some mystery oil into the crank case via the oil filler plug on the crank case. I plan to let it soak for a day or two and then turn the engine by hand with the plugs out. What else should I do before attemping to start it? Is there anything I should do to the pump, any lubricating to be done on it, maintenance that I can do prior to starting? Also why does the crank case have an oil fill plug? Its a two stroke? And should I take my mix gas and pour straight into the crank case? The motor is not locked up but it has been sitting for quite awhile. So I know its dry. Honestly I'm not familiar with skis at all, this is my first one. So not sure where to go from here. Any help will be great. FYI it is a 1990 x2 with a bunch of aftermarket parts. I will tell you what they are once I can identify whats what.

Thanks JBM

Get all the oil out of the case..that is an inspection hole for the flywheel..the electronics are n there... best bet is pull the cover and clean it out.. prime the Carb with the filter off and plugs out by turning the motor over via the start button and then replace the plugs. Confirm spark first against the block.. a touch of premix down the Carb..about an ounce will do.. start it up..

I would spray the thing inside and out with oil / wd40. let it sit, get the plugs out. Like u did. Turn it without sparks like MAD said.

Aftermarket parts you can see it on the part itselve. Make a photo and we can tell.

Take the carb of and clean it all out. Making sure u dont mess up the membranes. I alway's clean them up with WD40. the membrane can be dry.
Count the numer of times the screws of the carbs go in and take them out then make sure the O rings on them are flexible. Also Wd40 :p put it all back together like it was, look if it will spark then crank the beast.

The electrical box is closed but there can be a lot of oxidation in it.. It's located under the steering stem.
