I remember years ago there was a company selling 750 noses for X2 bottoms. You cut the bottom off, and glassed the new one on. The bad deal with the X2 hull was that the bond line wasn't flat like a stand up. The conversion had the curve molded in.

IMO there are Good and Bad points of a V-Hull.....I wonder if It would hold the water as good deep into turns, and If it wouldent jump as whell......

I know the x2 is tough in chop, but IMO the flat bottom gives it a better lift when your jumping waves....instead of cutting through.

You may be able to get a better top speed with a VEE hull though....I mean A sxi pro goes almost 50 stock

What about simply increasing the chimes in the back and gtiving yourself a 'rounded V' up front? I think that one of the biggest problems w/ the X2 hull are the large chimes up front, they tend to 'catch' in chop. If you got rid of them up front but increased them in the back much like the new X2 hull you may get the best of both worlds.

Well... I tried cutting the bottom off my junk X2 hull I have. It was a real PITA! The front part of the hull in front of the bulkhead was pretty simple to cut off, looked like a square to round nose conversion. I never tried chiseling the bond flanges apart though.

The rear... A lot more difficult. I was trying to save the bulk head. Maybe if you didn't care about it and cut through it, things would be easier. Or use a rotary cutter that has teh depth of cut set to only the thickness of the hull. There is just too many things in the way.

The trim and steering cables run through aluminum tubes. Then you have the bilge, cooling, and exhaust drain line. then how the foot wells sit lower than the top of the bond flange made things difficult. Also the rear pump cavity has a lot of green glue :(

All in all I just saif F it and continued to just chop the hull up for the garbage. I saved the pump shoe area to use as a mold to make a 750 style pump shoe. I had soem water in my foam. Not a whole lot but there was water! I think it came from a crack/scrap on the hull strake. Also there was water around the holes the pour the foam in the engine compartment from.

So I doubt I have enough patience to do such a hybrid hull idea. I would rather just add to my debt problem and buy one of those Japanese X2 hulls. There was definetly some heavy pieces of glass in these hulls.

Good luck to anyone who considers doign this! But I bet Pete could do it. I was just being to impatient, a hack, and lazy.

My hull was basically trashed in that area anyway,I will probably do something similar to what Crab did on his hull plus I made a set of FRONT SPONSONS to go on it,I haven't had alot of time to fool with it lately and am in no giant hurry so hopefully I can come up with something totally different and unique.

the big bonus of fitting the sx `vee` hull to the x2 top deck is the enlarged pump area...... the 650x2 pump inlet area and the flat bottom hull doesnt make for great transfer of water through to your impellor.

ive got a mate thats measured it all out and has cut up the x2... but hes having trouble with the bulkhead, as someone else suggests.... pita with all those cables and things goin through to the engine bay,
hes about to give up..... i may get in there now my other x2 project is finished.

I cut up my old X2 hull. If I ever wanted ot make an X2 hull mold, I would have to have 3 or 4 X2's. When you cut them apart, there is a lot of stuff inside there. Plus where they are glued makes it hard to pry them apart. Then again I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't care if I had to cut the whole thing into pieces.

dbrutherford....... its amazin how solid the x2 hulls are aint it, thats why there so heavy. almost 1/2 inch thick in places that fibreglass..... not like the roundnose jets.

i looked into reshaping the flat hull just before the intake area of the pump and was looking to copy the gp12/13 ----- just to channel some water to the pump area..... but i couldnt come up with a strong enough material/way to bond em together, so i shelved that idea

Yes they are! But just like an SJ, the bottom half of the hull is very heavy. I wish someone would make a light weight X2 hull state side. Otherwise I will buy an SJ hul and conversion hood. Those things look cool! Put a GPR 800 engine in one and I am all over it. When I save up 20 grand that is.

Nothing going to happen out of WDK, unless someone is willing to let him spash the topdeck of the new X2, he had someone but they backed out.
