Well... I tried cutting the bottom off my junk X2 hull I have. It was a real PITA! The front part of the hull in front of the bulkhead was pretty simple to cut off, looked like a square to round nose conversion. I never tried chiseling the bond flanges apart though.
The rear... A lot more difficult. I was trying to save the bulk head. Maybe if you didn't care about it and cut through it, things would be easier. Or use a rotary cutter that has teh depth of cut set to only the thickness of the hull. There is just too many things in the way.
The trim and steering cables run through aluminum tubes. Then you have the bilge, cooling, and exhaust drain line. then how the foot wells sit lower than the top of the bond flange made things difficult. Also the rear pump cavity has a lot of green glue
All in all I just saif F it and continued to just chop the hull up for the garbage. I saved the pump shoe area to use as a mold to make a 750 style pump shoe. I had soem water in my foam. Not a whole lot but there was water! I think it came from a crack/scrap on the hull strake. Also there was water around the holes the pour the foam in the engine compartment from.
So I doubt I have enough patience to do such a hybrid hull idea. I would rather just add to my debt problem and buy one of those Japanese X2 hulls. There was definetly some heavy pieces of glass in these hulls.
Good luck to anyone who considers doign this! But I bet Pete could do it. I was just being to impatient, a hack, and lazy.
