X-Metal Pole..what spring would work

Hi...I have an awesome -4 X Metal pole. Love the length..but could go for a little lift out of it. What spring will work in there good with it's weight. I know I may have to add a full bolt through to hold the spring or has anybody found a better way to hold the spring.

Thanks much,
Scott

I am trying to accomplish the same thing. I have an old UMI spring for the RN that broke, so I heated it and bent it out to make a spring that seems to fit inside the pole. I am guessing that I will need a RN pole bolt to make it work. My only concern is having to tighten the bolt to make the pole stiff enough for freestyle tricks. I am afraid that the X-metal cast base might not withstand too much clamping force. Any ideas??

I thought about that but the spring will destroy the threads over time and would make it impossible to ever remove. I was thinking maybe a SS sleeve to fit over the inside portion of the pole bolt. The OD of the sleeve might be a challege to fit the spring ID though. Wonder where I could get SS tubing the right size to fit over the stock pole bolt??

Ok, then how about some SS tubing, the right diameter for the spring, cut to length with SS studs welded on each end.

Yep, something like that is what I am thinking about. Maybe even thick washers for each end would work just as well. If this assembly fit snug into the inside of the handle pole it would let you tighten the bolt and it would take the stress off of the cast pole bottom. I need to find a source for SS tubing and thick washers or bushings.. Anybody??

You can use an aluminum tube cut to fit inside the pole, with a small enough diameter to slide the spring over.
I think wammer sells some pcs that will work as well.

Thanks Pat, the pole is working great and installed with no problems. Just trying to reduce the effective weight but still have it tight enough for no handers & such..
