wrong fiberglass?

at: i didnt think abt this till now, but i ordered all the supplies for footholds from us composites, and the fiber glass i ordered was this

was that the wrong type? if it is i guess i can just go buy some from homedepot or lowes.

Just to thin, I use 10oz. cloth so I can cut down on how many layers I have to apply. You will be there for days laying 3 and 4 oz. cloth but it will work.

HD and Lowes only have thin cloth like 4oz. I think.

my home depot sells a thick mat im sure it varies by location

I use 10 oz. and it should only take you a few hours to lay a few layers over your holds. Most of the time is spent waiting on the epoxy to turn green.

oh ok, i know there are 1million threads, but while on the topic, if i can get some thicker mat i should just layer it, let it dry, then layer again, dry, then one more time?

do it while its wet, other wise you should sand/clean it in between layers.

Yes while wet tacky or in its green stage.

1)brush epoxy onto foothold/topdeck, generously but don't let it run and look like crap
2)lay glass layer over top
3)brush on more epoxy overtop (now both sides of cloth are saturated)
4)lay second layer overtop of first layer (back will instantly saturate)
5)more epoxy overtop of layer to wet outside.

You want to put on enough to fader away any white spots (dry spots) but don't slop it on like an idiot and let it run all over the place.

just pay attention, you'll see how much is enough. If you have a big layer ontop of the glass that dries and it looks like a fossil, you probably used too much. if there is white patches you didn't use enough.

you can put down a bunch of layers all at once. Just watch on vertical surfaces that it doesn't sag on you.
