Would you let anyone ride your SJ?

Well I was out riding with some people I just met the other day (couch riders) and I was riding my squarenose. My Dad asked me if I was going to offer rides on my ski. I told him no way. He seemed kind of shocked. I don't think I was out of line. I can only imagine what might happen when someone gets on my modded sj and has never ridden a standup before. Not to mention couchers, again. Even though 2 of them were chicks, I still could'nt bare to see someone with no experience ride away on my sj, no telling what could happen. Was I being unreasonable? Would any of you let someone just hop on your standup?

i love watching people "try" to ride my superjet. they think its so easy. they get on it and cant even get up. its like a fat kid trying to barefoot ski. lol.

it deff shows people that the world of stand ups are not as easy as it looks + jetskis let you meet some hotties :p

I do all the time. Makes people want one even more. Every person I've let ride my ski end up saying they want to get one. i just go over everything with them and turn the bilges on before they go, but we also have an area where they cant go far enough away where there will be a problem, and i hop on their couch so i can stay closeby to them and help if there is a problem.

That is the other reason, so when they see how hard it is it makes me look that much better :cool2:

Letting people ride would help promote standups.

Another thing was the that the tide was running out and really quick someone might be eating a sandbar if they were not careful.

every one who trys wants one minus kids who own their sweeeeeeeet "amazing" rxp's . they just get all its kind of a waste to blow 5 grand on one of these. i go... no its kind of a waste to buy a 12 thousand dollar supercharged jetski that you can ride back and forth with

actually lots of times i get the opposite reaction. People with rxp and stuff that try it out, almost always say, I wish my ski had that kind of power.

I let people ride mine all the time - anything I can do to promote the sport. You'd be amazed at how people's opinions of "those damn jetskiers" change when one of them offers to let them ride their ski. The funniest one was the time I met these two drunk guys digging for clams in the backwater of the Intracoastal Waterway - since we were the only ones around, I let one of them try to ride it. He never got up off his knees, but me and his drunk buddy stood and laughed our @sses off while he bounced around. He came back to the shore and his eyes were about as big as saucers and said, "damn, I gotta get me one a them!"

Im on the fence.
I let a newbie ride my 750 last weekend and he sucked up some water and it ran like cr@p for about 20 minutes :irked:until it burned all the water out of the motor.:disappointed:
Now I am swinging back the other way- if I know them and they are athletic skiers/wakeboarders then OK.
Random folks- sorry, go buy one!

I let people ride mine all the time. Kind of funny. They always come back saying I make it look so easy. Some people stand right up and others never do. I still have the lanyard attached to mine (wrapped around when I ride) and I just let them use that and away they go. bilge's on of course.

I'll let anyone ride it on flatwater. They can't really do much to it if they don't know how to ride. They usually putt around on their knees, try to stand and fall over a couple times... In 5 minutes they are exhausted from all the swimming.

....and yes, they usually want one.

Before my motor was a ticking tome bomb I would have said YES I will let anyone attempt to ride my ski. But now that ANY WOT will more than likely blow the hell out of the motor I would have to say no one rides my ski except experienced riders.

I have a 650SX. It may not be as powerful as what you guys have, but it's pulling as hard or harder than half the couches out there (not the 1200's or the super charged but more on the bottom end than the rest).

I'm hesitant to let people ride it. They just go out and ride it like anything else that doesn't belong to them. I ride it as hard as I can, but I'm paying the bills. I only let people I know well ride my ski. If someone was out there riding out on something better than mine, I'd let them ride my fossil.

it's agervating seeing people who have no idea how to ride my ski, get on it, get to their knees and just peg it. A lot of people don't even try to stand more than once. Then they spend 20 mins riding it like a tube. That just annoys me and I don't want to let people borrow it.

Everytime i go to the lake, people are being stupid with jet skis. The last 650SX I saw, the guy drove up and parked it on the jet ski ramp (concrete!). i made a joke about that being retarded, and if anyone borrowed my ski and did that, it'd be the last time for them because it shows their carelessness. The next guy on my ski that day (like 4 people new trying it) brings it back, and parks it in the sand 6" from the ramp. I was like, dude, there's 20' of sand b/t here and the nearest bush, why would you park it where the waves will push it into the ramp and rough my ******** up?

I'm sorry, but after so many tools not returned, things broken, and all due to carelessness, I don't want to loan anything to anyone.

Before my motor was a ticking tome bomb I would have said YES I will let anyone attempt to ride my ski. But now that ANY WOT will more than likely blow the hell out of the motor I would have to say no one rides my ski except experienced riders.

That's basically where I'm at. I want to make my ski better, not keep spending money on something someone else broke. Extra wear and tear is one thing, but breaking ******** is a whole different story.

I would let most good riders take her out, they probably won't do as much damage as I do anyway, unless they are flipping and rolling. When I do let a noob ride, I spend a lot of time with the do's and don'ts. However they usually forget immediatly.:smashfreakB: And I make them wear the lanyard for sure.
