Worthy Of It's Own Post

The need for a WATERFROOF either remote or proximity kill switch is F*&^ING huge for Anyone/Anywhere who freestyles.. I have had 3(yes three) full blown freestyle skis take off at full throttle and crash into shorelines at 55mph plus, missing friends and sun tanners on two of them by just a few feet..The consiquences of a direct hit to a person would be PRISON for man sloughter and you would be F*&^ing BROKE after the lawsuits shred your life....WE NEED THIS MORE THAN COMPOSITE HULLS AND HP!! Even a remote switch on your vest or helmet would be great, just someway to kill the dam engine for when you snap your handpole bracket, or hand pole head set, or bars, or your carb return spring breaks when you wipe out, I have had them all personally happen to me, some when I was a racer and used a lanyard and some since I've been a hardcore Freestyler...A product like this could/would have a broad market range...If someone can figure out/develop a unit like this, I would be the first inline to purchase it!!! Here is a link to the closest thing I have found but it's not waterproof http://www.3built.com/ also I have seen recently some pro fishing boats with waterproof remotes to control steering/speed/trim on trolling engines We need someone with some electronics know how to get just a lil creative...

I learned to do hood tricks with an extra long lanyard for that very reason. I would deffinately buy something to give me more freedom without sacrificing the piece of mind that my ski will shut down when I fall off.

I would imagine some type of system that shuts off the engine after you leave a certain proximity would be cool, but what if the batteries die right in the middle of a huge set and you get all smashed up? That would suck

Man... If they would replace the remote with a wrist-strap that had RFID proximity monitoring in it that would be sweeet.

Anyone wanna start a company ourselves and sell the technology to the jet ski manufacturers???? :sneaky:

Forget selling it to them. They dont need anything because they all have kill straps and they dont need to add in another safety piece because this does not happen to a majority of the market. This would be a product for a niche market of freestylers or people who mess around with their engines.

It wouldnt be a bad thing if someone was able to adapt one of those products for a pwc and then just sell it through Legdrag or Wamiltons.

Was that more of a freak accident? How many times does anyone go out on a boat or fishing by themself?

Sorry to here about your friend though.

Powerboat racers have kill straps if they get tossed.

Add a switch to the dash to overide or something. I guess that would rid the advantage of having an 'eletric key' however.
