300/440/550 will newer e box fit onto a older model?

i got a 82 js 550 and my ignition coil went bad. i found a guy that will sell me a hole jet for 100 bucks to replace my coil. question is that the new jet is a 90 and mine is a 82. will the 90 work with me 82 jet?
