They rotate all the way around and land the hull flat on the water, from 10+ feet up.

Buh bye ankles.

i can't do them, but you HAVE to start there.

i've tried about 3 of them, and i bailed on 1. none hurt me at all, but my ski was hosed after the bail (ski pancaked without me and snapped pole).

watching superrob, you basically just need a helmet for safety, a ski that hits when you want it to, and a slightly reckless personality.

I am really reckless???.. hehaheah..

i GOTTA SEE THIS, DOES UR buddy w/ the ski boat have a friend with a video cam?
We have a helmet camera / sports cam we film everything with. Rest assured if the stars line up and I try it, it will be on film. Keep in mind all this flip talk is easy sitting at this desk. I just hope I'm still sos brave when behind the boat......

Alright.... hold the phone here... 10ft and bye bye ankles???? I've landed flat from alot higher than that and not hurt myself.... actually several times.. Christ there have been days where I land so freaking hard that you colapse into the ski like a rag doll... It's all about that one time when your foot or your leg is just in the wrong position and bam!!! This trick is far from "dangerous"... Hell it's way more dangerous going 65mph on a sitdown IMO... there are more ways to hurt yourself..

Just comit to the trick and it will be yours....

KAWI SXR, flatwater rider (hood tricker), behind one (not between 2) ski boats, going for the back flip as 1st AIR Trick. I hope you make it on 1st try as that would be an inspiration to all of us flatwater chicken sh-ts. I still want filmage.

Whew. Yesterday we were out at the lake with 2 21ft Baja boats to make a double up wave. Now the drivers had not done this much, so the wakes were not as clean as I think they could be, but it was awesome nevertheless. Big thanks!!

I pancaked at least 10 times . . . and I pull hard and look back - way back . . . so I came here to see if there might be some advice and found this

"a backflip off a wake and surf backflip are totally different in style and approach... If you want to get around on a wake flip, you need to approach the wake slowly then right before (you will have to figure the timing out) you hit the launch wake, blip the throttle, so the nose pops up and then drops down... right at the point in wich your nose is fully dipped you should be at the launch wave, sit down, pull back and grab all of the throttle. Then, as you shoot up continue pulling on the bars and remember you will be compressed in a sitting position, so just kick your legs straight out to a standing position and at the same time look back as far as you can to spot the landing... If you do these things at the right time you will get around, no doubt.. It took me a few attempts, but landed one clean... "

Which is exactly what I plan on doing next time we go out.

Luke, Tom and myself kept on trying until we were wasted. (tired, not drunk) Eventually I jacked my self in the face (helmet saved my chin, but I got cut - no biggie) Tom had the ski almost land on him (because he let go - I think) and Luke's ski, well lets just say it's under 35 feet of water on the bottom of Cheney lake.

Luke got the closest of any of us at about stab angle.

I'm superpumped to try the new technique described by out O-so-glorious Slut.

yea gimme a location of that ski, Ill bring scuba gear. I lost an outboard on the bottom for 3 weeks, went diving and found it, and it still works. This is 4 years later too! Its only when theres water and air present that corrosion starts.

Hey, whats the minimum power needed to pull off a backflip for a 190 pound guy (6')

Im guessing my 650 wont be able to do it, but while a stock 61X do? Or a 62T?

They went out to drag the lake in that area. Tom had a GPS so they left someone floating with his ski while they went and got the GPS. They GPS'd the location (approx.) and got some guy to drag the area.

I guess that didn't go so well, and I'm not sure what the next plan is. Maybe Skywalker (Luke) will get on here and tell us what's up.

Scuba sounds great, but you've got maybe 12 inch visibility.
