What?! You guys are confusing this whole subject! Unless the 06-07 cables are so thick that they can't fit? I understand that the 06-07 cables are thicker than the other pre 08 ones..
I had an SBT roundnose cable in my square with a stock square pole.. and it fit fine.. just has more throw than my old square one.

After some more searching the only difference I can find is one of them is 1-2" longer? Is the SN or RN one longer?

1990-1995 cables will work on 1996-2007 and visa versa. FX1 and 2008+ are the same but the have a shorter throw than the SN cables. Roughly 1 1/2".

The OEM 06-07 cable has thicker metal at each end but necks down to accept same sized cable ends.
Otherwise main cable is same size and diameter.

The RN and SN steering cables can be used interchangeably for the most part except for the '08-up cable which have about 2" less throw and designed for the shorter top casting of the '08-up SJ/FX pole.

Thats strange, because years ago I broke a cable, ordered new, they sent a SN cable, it was too long, tried reversing, no go, thought I had put it in backwards....... called them up, they said send it back, they sent me a RN cable. No Issues...... I could have cut the SN Cable and rethreaded, but did not want to go that route, maybe it was just defective, This was in 2004 or so.

The actual steering cable (core) on the oem 06-07 is actually about .010" larger in diameter compared to the 90-95 oem cable.

Housing is the same diameter.
