Why do people shorten handle poles, when you can use straight 7/8 OD stock tubing and lose 1-2" versus 0 degree bars?

The thing that is confusing to me is that people will go through all kinds of work shortening the handlepole when the turn-plate could be modified.
they shorten the pole as well as the turnplate
Ok, but if you can go -4 by shortening your turnplate and running 7/8 od stock, how much shorter can you really go?
On my 96 sxi, I didn't even shorten the turnplate and probably am -3 over stock... if I re-drill I could lose another inch.

There is only so much you can shorten just by using the turn plate and bars. It is also a leverage thing. Just because you shorten the distance with the turn plate, it is not the same as a shorter pole.
Really? Any pics? I'd like to see that. It's all about how you ride, and how you want your ski to feel. There are guys on here with -12 poles on their shortened hulls.

Everyone knows it's how you use your pole that counts
