So, my wife asks me (paraphrase), "Why do jet skiers ride around going braaapp, braaap, braaap?" What she meant was, why do most riders seem to blip the throttle constantly while riding? I was stumped for a moment.
Is it some cross over from another sport? I don't remember do that on a dirt bike.
Is it just the "feel good" factor of hearing your ski's engine respond?
Is it some nervous twitch that jetskiers suffer from, like tourette's or something?
My best guess is ths: the guys who do this either suffer from poorly jetted carbs and have to compensate by fluctuating the throttle, or are used to having skis like that so do it out of habit. I do this, and also after a high-speed run, I'll blip the throttle a little instead of just chopping it off (after reading Klemm's warning of too-small main jets).
