Who makes D cut ride plates?

I have done a search and have read alot about people cutting "D" shapes in either their stock ride plates or aftermarket ones. Seems like the way to go, but I don't have a OEM plate and don't really want to cut my Pro-Tec ride plate. I was wondering, besides the composite $238.00 plate on blowsion.com, who makes a non-composite ride plate? Opinions are welcome, but not necessary. Just trying to complie a list of
a) who makes the a D cut non-composite ride plate?
b) Where to purchase the ride plate.

supposedly some folks have had the stock plates crack after the D cut.

My own however, has not, but I do not ride in the surf.

even if it does though, they ae relatively cheap.

I just cut my Pro-tec and it works great! The Pro-tec plate wont crack on ya. It actually works out good on the pro-tec because the top of the D cut goes right up towhere the casting "brace" is. It's almost like it was made to cut it that way.. Not to mentions its almost twice as thick as a OEM plate.

a different type of impact though.

but still funny, and also the reason every vehicle I own wears a trailer hitch.

rear end that shiat one time biatcccchhhhhhh!

brraap....thats so 2002
check with steve at watercraft factory....he had one of his own design on his build off boat.

yea i saw the one WCF made on the petes boat,it looked VERY cool but when i saw it,I was thinking, hmm that would suck bumping into that thing any kinda way,by the end of the day pete had a nice gash in his shin from the plate from some kinda crash landing bail? ya have to be carefull cutting these and rounding out the edges so ya dont jack yerself,I know ive bumped my plate a few times doing stupid stuff,we all get crazy sooner or later, lol

Well, I'm not really asking for me, I'm asking for a mechanic buddy of mine that dosen't go on the internet. We were at Pismo two weekends ago and he said he saw a bunch of skis with D cut metal/non-composite ride plates that looked manufactured to him. I did not witness this first hand, I am only going off of what he told me.

He has a pretty nice boat he is building and for some reason he dosen't like to go cheap. He dosen't want to cut a plate if he dosen't have to. He would rather buy one first if he can. If no one makes one, I'm sure he'll end up cutting the one on his ski right now. I think he has some kind of R&D plate on there right now.

Me on the other hand, I do have a Pro-tec plate. I'm kinda weary on cutting it, but I am considering it. I might try to look for a stocker one first to cut, and just keep my ProTec plate in the box on my trailer for back up in case the stocker cracks.

Has anyone ever done any reinforcing on their stock plate after cutting it to try to prevent the cracking? Is that even worth it?

Dude, just cut your own... very easy...

I cut my OEM one to try out, and loved it. I have since cut my jet dynamics plate, and it seems to be even better... has a little better design to help with straight line tracking. But the D cut really makes it more playful in the waves, and seems easier to throw around even on flat water.

I need to get the JD plate out in some waves to see how it handles compared to the cut OEM plate, but so far I like it.

I understand that it is easy. That is not the point of my thread. I am just tyring to find out IF any company out there manufactures a D cut plate that is non-composite. Thats all. I have found plenty of threads on how to cut the plate. But thanks for the pics anyways

Sorry dude... My bad. I just hate to see someone spend money on something that is a relatively easy thing.

one thing, D-cut to me means like a Worx racing plate, with a D shaped cutout in the middle of the plate, not one with a half-moon cutout in the back for freestyle/freeride.
