Ive got a single carb (61x case) 701 motor and have both an aftermarket mikuni 44mm or a wetjet 46mm carb available to use (minus the wetjet manifold).

The motor will have the usual basic mods (b-pipe, some porting and maybe some compression)

Who has run the 46mm mikuni on the x cases (non race skis) and please give a review...

Until this past week I had assumed it would be an upgrade over the regular 44mm until speaking with a reputable engine builder who recommended sticking with the 44mm carb for this type of set up. He explained to me that the 46mm was better suited for the race skis but in his testing really made no gains for freestyle motors...

thanks.

I agree with your tuner, forget about the 46. Put more effort in getting the right port work and tuning your pump load to match.

i ran a complete wetjet motor for the first time this weekend in daytona with my new REV..

i couldnt believe the power it made....a few different peeps rode it as well and made similar notation of the power

I say run it!

I ran a 46 wetjet carb and intake in my SJ. Switched to a 44 with stock intake, and I could tell a difference. Not huge, but noticeable. The only reason I took it off was to sell it to fund a big bore motor.

I had the wetjet intake with my setup though. You'll have to make the mounting holes in the carb a little bigger, and open up the intake to match the 46mm carb.

Yes, I have already opened up the mounting holes and ported the intake mani to 46mm...

Unfortunately I do not have the wetjet intake manifold setup to go with this carb...

i ran one in my square. 61x case, 61x ported jugs, msn enhancer, ada head.

it ran great. my jugs were ported for more mid to top end and it hit hard in the midrange and i was very pleased.

i never compared the 44 back to back. but every one that took a rip on my ski was impressed.

if you have both you can always switch. so give it a shot.

I have a single wetjet 46 carb (gold one) on an OEM 61x intake. I like it, but have not tried a modded 44. What is yours, a Blackjack 44?

I really wonder if the wetjet intake really makes that much diff vs an OEM 61x intake. Seems that the wetjet intake only has built in reed stuffers, which are not supposed to be best for freestyle. The reeds themselves are the same size, right?

Thanks for the input guys, I guess I'll just run the 46 and give it a shot. I don't know if I'll still have the option of trying both come this spring so thats why I was trying to make my decision now.

One of the guys I ride with has the full wetjet intake and carb on his 701, it rips pretty good.
